Managing stress isn't about you, it's about your body
Manage episode 385093338 series 3525678
Stress is a natural part of life. It is also a very constant part of life, especially in today’s world. It’s so constant that our bodies rarely get a reprieve. This fact has its consequences - chronic and/or frequent stress can ultimately rob us of our energy for life and lead to chronic disease.
Stress is, well, a stressful topic.
Even reading the word stress can be stressful. It is difficult to talk about, let alone figure out what to do with it. We get it. Heck, we get a bit prickly ourselves when someone suggests that we might be stressed.
But stress is real, especially in the body.
And this is why at Strand Fitness, we discuss stress with our clients. Reducing the intensity of stress and the amount of time that one’s body is under stress is a way to get greater fitness results. And a way to slow the aging process in the body.
In this episode of The Longevity Gym, Pam Strand, owner of Strand Fitness, continues her conversation about stress and how to manage it.
- Stress disrupts the stability of your body’s internal systems - stability that is necessary for good health, strength, and resilience.
- Persevering and coping with stress is not the best long-term strategy.
- Any stress, good or bad, is stress to the body if it is intense enough and long enough in duration.
- To manage stress effectively, you need to meet the body where it is and support it all the way through its stress response process.
- Learn the four (4) variables that turn stress into something you can actually manage - for your benefit and your body’s, too.
- Adopting a growth mindset is a less stressful approach to life.
