I know how you feel. I feel it too. Just when you thought you had it figured out you lost your shit. I get it. Now whatcha gunna do about it? What do you do when you get overwhelmed with stress? Punch something, bitch and moan to a friend, drink like a fish, drive fast and take chances? Its funny when you read that list at how absurd and harmful these coping mechanisms are. But we do them! I want you to acknowledge stress for what it is. Stress is either acute or cumulative. Acute stressors are things that come out of nowhere and knock you for a loop like a cancer diagnosis, sudden death of a loved one or an unexpected catastrophe. Cumulative stressors are things that slowly build over time until they ultimately boil over and make you flip your lid. Both result in physiological, emotional and psychological stress. But you are not your thoughts and your thoughts are not you! You can separate yourself from your stressors and deal with them on your terms. In this week's episode of the Coach Glass Podcast we go DEEP into how to manage your stress. We also discuss how stress, with the right perspective, can actually be a positive and healthy part of the human experience. Stress and our response to it is something that we created and something that we can manage. "What? I didn't create COVID! I didn't create the suffering my family is experiencing since I lost my job!" Nope. But you did create your strategy for dealing with these unforeseen catastrophes. So what if there was a better way? Would you be open to it? Are you open to journalling your feelings and looking at them from the perspective of the observer? Are you open to mindful meditation and the practice of being present to remove the anxiety of the future or the depression of your past? Are you open to adding habits in your daily life that will better prepare you to handle life's stresses? Well alright alright alright...lets get started!
