Welcome back to the podcast, friends!
If you're new here, I'm glad you found my podcast and we're now connected!
On this week's episode of the podcast friends, I want us to have a serious conversation about how real community wide grief is, in light of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's tragically and untimely passing.
First and foremost, my heart goes out to the family of Johnny and Matthew. The pain that has been inflicted on them is unfathomable and unfair. I can't even begin to imagine what the family of these young men is now forced to go through, for the rest of their lives.
The news has shattered the world. Yes millions of us know the Gaudreau family because Johnny was an NHL player (he played with the Calgary Flames for nine seasons and the Columbus Blue Jackets for two) and allowed the world to get to know his family over the years, but both Johnny and Matthew were more than just hockey players.
It can feel weird to grieve the loss of someone you didn't personally know, so I wanted to talk about grief that gets experienced community and world wide. If someone or something has a positive impact on you then leaves this world or your life, there will be grief to process. That is nothing a person should feel weird about.
Two young men, just 31 and 29, who are husbands, fathers (to young and unborn children), brothers, sons, great friends/teammates to many, were wrongfully taken out of this world because of a careless and dangerous decision made by an irresponsible. This is what people worldwide are mourning. What happened to Johnny and Matthew is tragic, horrific, and heart shattering. Forever, millions of us will join the Gaurdeau family in grieving the loss of two incredible young men taken far too soon.
