Our Invisible String: A Connection from 30 Years Ago Becomes Love
Manage episode 434144438 series 2550389
Sara and Joe have known each other since they were 12 years old, living in Wisconsin, and Sara always thought Joe was cute. They attended the same church, dance class and in high school even had lockers next to each other. Their lives didn’t intersect during high school, but they met again when Sara’s mom passed away and Joe came to church services to honor her. After that, they saw each other a bit, and one year ago, they had their first official date. They have been together for one year.
Both Sara and Joe are divorced, both had children with previous spouses, and Sara had moved to California many years ago. So, they have kept up a relationship, both living in separate states. They have adventured together, had a lot of great times, and got over fears of starting a new relationship. This is a story of how so many years can pass, and yet you can pick up again with someone that is familiar with where you both grew up, values, and all the right things. Sara’s mom, before she died told Sara she hoped she would find someone to love that grew up right around their home-town. Who knew how prescient that would be- and how right she was.
Sara and Joe talk about things they have learned during the relationship. The joy, the fun but yes, the work it takes-Particularly communication. Sara shares three things she knows: Awareness, Being Open and Reflection. They also talk about being ready to jump in even if your past relationships have scarred you. Joe says: “Make the choice to take a chance to make a change.” Some words of wisdom right there.
Hope you listen and enjoy this love story!
