Episode Transcript:

Welcome to unjaded, I am super excited today to have a very special guests with me, Kathy Gleason. And Kathy and I met at pod Fest in January this year, we were sitting, you know how you're in a room with a bunch of people. And they do that thing where you have to turn around and greet the person next to you or ask them a question or something like this. And so I turned around Kathy was behind me and we talked about the, like icebreaker question that the workshop facilitator had asked. And Kathy talked to me about her podcast, which is called as I live in grieve. And if you haven't yet listened to it, do yourself a favor and listen to it. Kathy is without a doubt one of the best conversationalist I've ever come across, really and truly. And what I love about one of the things I love about your podcast is that you ask the best questions. So she has these things that she calls toddler questions. And they're like all those questions that we always all have in the back of our mind. And we don't ask them, but Kathy actually asks them, she has been called the Anderson Cooper of the podcast world, and her podcast is really, really good. I'm not just saying that cuz she's sitting here in front of me. So really do yourself a favor. Bit is focused on grief and moving through grief because Kathy has grieved. She's had some grief in her life. And she is using her human design as a six to profile I believe, to show up as a role model to others. Welcome to unjaded. I'm your host, Vickie Dickson. This is a podcast with a human design spin on building the life, the relationships and the business that you were made for. Let's dive in.

So welcome to the podcast. Kathy, I'm excited to have you here. I couldn't be more excited to be here. And it was one of those things that immediately when we met at pod Fest and started talking, I just felt there was this true connection? A little did I know how great that connection was going to be? Because you and I have had some phenomenal conversations between January and now in just a few short months. And thank you so much for your kind words, you truly flattered me. I'm not a great one to feel comfortable with recognition or accomplishments. But you know, I'm going to try to get used to it because words like those are just, they're great. Thank you. I'm gonna be here. And you're welcome. And I appreciate you being here. And it's funny because as a generator, we don't typically think of generators in the Human Design Space is needing recognition, it's more of a projector thing that we talk about. But I actually had the experience where I got an email from a listener today. And she was like, Oh, my gosh, I'm a generator. And I didn't realize how much recognition fuels me how much how good it feels to be recognized for what I'm doing. And I think that we missed that piece for generators. So if you're listening in and you have a generator in your life, I would love for you to understand that because they don't have a motor connected to their throat, which might be weird human design language, but just trust me on it. They too need to be recognized. And that's not why I was doing this here. I really do believe that about Cathy's podcast. In fact, the first episode that I listened to move me to tears. So I remember I was walking listening to your podcast where you talked about Lee, and you'll have to listen into the podcast to hear that I'm not sure which episode number it was. But I was crying listening to you and listening to your lived experience. So and so many episodes since then. I mean, I spoke about your podcasts on a webinar or something I was doing and somebody said, Oh my gosh, I could just listen to her voice all day. I love listening to her podcast. So really, really, really, if you're listening to this, you really, really, really have to go and listen to Kathy's podcast. So thank you. You're welcome. And thank you for your gift to the like it is a gift, your podcast is a gift to the world.

And you have recently discovered human design like recently as in January, I guess a few months ago, we were in discussion with you because I remember saying to you, what is human design? And that started to me what has become a monumental experience in my life. And, you know, I remember one of the first things you mentioned about after we ran my chart and discovered that I was a generator. And one of the things you mentioned was about the decision making and how it's difficult for generators to make a decision if they're given an open ended question. And that, you know, in that moment, I that that is me, that probably is the most perfect description of me, because over the last, oh gosh, I don't know, at least 20 years of my life. When people would ask for something about me, I would always say, don't ask me to make a decision. I cannot make a decision. I hadn't at that point made the distinction that it was easier if it was a yes or no question. I just knew I had trouble making decisions. And that was the first thing. The first primary thing that you mentioned to me about generators that hooked me, okay. So if you're a generator or a manifesting generator in your listening in what Kathy is talking about is getting in tune with your sacral response. So yes or no questions are going to be much easier for you to answer than an open ended question. I know that I get those opening

Good questions too. And I'm or a multiple choice question good got a multiple choice question on test. It's like, I'm paralyzed with it. So when you are asked a yes or no question, or when you ask yourself a yes or no question, you can actually be in touch with your inner wisdom, your sacral center. So since discovering that what else have you discovered about humans? Well, it's been like, it's been like, I've been in the desert, and Allison hit that oasis. Here's all this information, and I need to know it all. I guess it's also part of being a generator, I joke with my daughter, who is a projector that we go down so many rabbit holes, because she and I both do so much research. It could be if one of us or someone in the family went to the doctor and was prescribed a medication, we have to look that up and find those side effects. You know, what are the potential, we look up the disease, we look up what else might be, we are just always going down rabbit holes. So it became that way for me with human design. And poor Vicki, I think I kept bombarding you with questions. We did a reading. And then I did the longer reading because I had to know more. And I still I have that worksheet right beside me. It's only 70 pages or so. And I still go through it. I bought two books, I've looked on websites, I considered taking a course. And round and round. And it's still human design for me. Every day, I'm pondering one concept or another of human design. Right now I think I've got a pretty fair Foundation, about, I don't always have the terminology. But I've got a pretty solid foundation about the type, the authority, the strategy, but those planets right now they're looking at me, I need to know more about those planets. Well, we can talk about that today, for sure. I'm just gonna do like a little little side tour here for a second about designs. So you know, listening to podcasts as much as you have that I love the nuances of human design. And I think that we can get really caught up in Well, I'm a generator, so or I'm a projector so or I'm this or I'm not and we like over identify with it. But Kathy has a specific gate in her design gate 48 That is really about this depth of wisdom. And like when something sparks your interest, you are going down the rabbit hole on it completely and all the way and you've done that with human design. And it's been fun for me. Because I mean, man, I love doing all the readings and all of the stuff. But it's been super, super fun to be able to do that with you. And what I love about when someone is so hungry for the information like you are it's not just information, you're actually using it in your life. So you've been using your human design, experiment, your human design going into the rabbit hole. I don't want to say information because it's it's been more lived information like you've been actually taking in and going. Okay, what am I going to do with this? But you've been using it a lot with your family? Yes. Can you talk about a little bit? This is an open ended question. But how does that look in your family? How has it helped you and your family? Or how have you been like, huh, isn't that interesting, terrible generator question, of course. And I you know, I think even though it's an open ended question, it's one that I'm I can answer very easily. I happen to live while I'm in my early 70s, just for those that are listening to the audio component. I'm in my early 70s. So I have a lot of that life experience behind me a lot. I live with my daughter, my older daughter, Stephanie, her husband, and her two boys, AJ, who's a senior in high school. And Nathan was a freshman at college. So they're 18 and 20. And I see some challenges, especially with Stephanie, and her younger boy, AJ, the senior in high school because man, AJ, he's a tough one. He's just very fixed. He knows what he wants to do. He's not gonna listen to his mother, he will lie to his mother. And when she asks them when she discovers it, and asks him, why did you lie to me? This response is somewhat flippant, because I know you've made me.

So I thought, okay, if human design fits me so well, and I can really identify with it, and it resonates with me. Let me check and see if I can look at Stephanie, and AJ. And even Nathan and mele Stephanie's husband, and see if I can understand some of the dynamics of the family. Well, I have to tell you, it's been pretty helpful. So much so that I have now dragged Stephanie down the rabbit hole with me.

And we have the charts for the entire family. And we puzzle over them every so often. At first, it was an almost daily thing. Now it's just you know, every couple of days we'll we'll figure something. And it was interesting one afternoon because as we were talking about it Nathan, the college freshman who is a skeptic, like I have done all my life. He said he said, Oh come on, you know this. There's nothing to you that that's like astrology. And I said, Okay, tell me if this is you or not. And I kind of read some of the points about his chart. He's a manager, and it has an emotional authority. And I went through some of those aspects. And he goes, Ah, let me see that. And then he became curious about it, too. So it has been, for me, my primary focus right now has been family dynamics. And what that means, and even for Stephanie and I, Stephanie works at our local public school district, in the special education department, she's in the administrative component of it. And she's looking at this wishing, actually, that human design was brought into the school system, because she's convinced that it would make a difference in some of these children's day experiences, if we knew what their human design profile was, and that they could then be kind of instructed, educated, coached in a certain manner that might be more beneficial for everybody. So this is a big rabbit hole where we and folks

Yeah, and I love that I mean, the school. Yes. So raw, the founder of human design, he always told us that it was the gift was for the children. Like, it's great for us. We've been conditioned for 50 7080, whatever years, for the children, like, I really believe like Stephanie believes that this could change everything. Yeah, yeah. And I look at my own grandchildren. So I have a granddaughter whose design is kind of sort of similar. I mean, every design has nuances. But she's a three five manifesting generator, like your AJ, one, she's four, she just turned four. And it's so interesting for me to observe myself, trying not to condition her away from herself. And it's all those things that we would have told our own children even don't do this don't behave like that don't like I mean, I can't imagine ever having let a child go aha, or, like my grandkids, their sacral sounds, their 3420 manifesting generators. So if you're listening, they have the channel 3420 defined, and they're manifesting generators. So that's like a special kind of manifesting generator. And their sacral sound is Yep. Or Nope. So I mean, it is amazing the number of times that even though we know better, we try to we try to say yes, please say, and it's like, they have to be in touch with their body wisdom. And you and I were talking before we started recording about AJ, and I hope he doesn't listen to the podcast and feel like we're talking about him. We're not on his radar.

But as a three, five, so I'm just because I've seen his chart, I don't have it in front of me. But I've seen his chart, he has eight centers defined. So that's where Kathy talks about him being very fixed. He has eight centers defined, so he's like solid, solid, solid, and who he is and what he wants and what he's doing and very focused on that. And Stephanie, I think has two centers to find if I'm not mistaken, two or three centers to find Yeah. And I can't remember her profile is she one three, I can't remember. I know your other daughters too, before tell you in just one second. But Aj is a three, five. So every, like these conversations that Kathy and I have had about him. And this like head butting that's going on in their home is can be the projector generator type thing it can be but also sometimes generators and projectors are beautiful together. But this three funds profiler, she's a 2424. So for her, it comes naturally. It's just like, well, I have this natural genius and and I move through the world with this natural flow. And like with AJ, there's no natural flow. It's like I have to break everything. I have to run fast and break things. I have to learn the hard way I have to like, break my leg in that same house. Yeah.

He has to make all of the mistakes for himself. And I can only imagine what that would feel like as a two four projector mom watching this because it's got to hurt her soul that it does this kid has to and she wants to fix it. But it's like there's nothing to be fixed. And I think that's one of the gifts of human design is that we really allow each other to be who we are, even when it's like, everything in us is just like wanting to drop the person up in our arms. And be like, don't do that.

I mean, he's a he's a teenage boy, too. Right. So there's lots of stuff going on. Yeah, regardless. So the planets, you wanted to talk a little bit about the planets? Yeah, I mean, they're all just kind of sitting there in your columns. And I understand that the column on the left, that was the 88 days before my birth, and that that's, that's unconscious, and that's the one on the right, that's conscious that ends my knowledge about the planets. Okay. Okay, so let's do a little tour of the planets in your chart. And if you're listening and you don't yet have your chart, just pause the episode and you can go to Vickie dickson.com It's linked in the show notes and print your human design chart. You do need your birth information. Or if you have your chart you can have it handy, I know you may be walking or driving right now. So you can come back to it later, just kind of picture your chart in your mind's eye if you can. So left hand side of the chart, As Kathy said, is the unconscious the subconscious, it's like what you brought in with you, it's in your body, you may not be as aware of those energies, but other people often will see them in you more than you see in yourself. The right hand side is your personality. And it's like really, you know, usually you identify with that very, very quickly, because you recognize it as yourself. So when we go, we're just gonna go from top to bottom for a little tour. So when we start at the top gate is on the right hand side is going to be the very, very most important if there is such a thing as a most important planet in your design, that's going to be the very, very most important because it is your conscious sun. So it said that 70% of the neutrinos in your design go through that gate of the conscious sun. So 70% of the cosmos within you is the gate of that conscious sun, the energy of that conscious sun. So yours is gate 53. And I pretty sure in your reading, we talked about this showing up in your life, that this is the energy of starting things. This is the energy of new beginnings. This is the energy of yeah, just having to get things started. And as a generator, that can be a thing to write where you just start a whole bunch of things. And maybe a lot of us finish things. Yeah.

Yeah. But...

Yeah.

Yeah. But...
