Hey, hey Habit Thrivers!👋

Welcome to episode 101, where we're launching🚀 into our next 100 episodes (and beyond) on the Habit Thrive Podcast by diving back into the topic of movement and exercise.👟

So far on our May Mindful Movement Series, we have discussed ✅whether or not we ever find ourselves craving habits like exercise and movement, ✅exploring how Ayurveda can have us embracing exercise, ✅and how to habit stack movement with exercise.

This week, we are thinking about when OUR best time🕐 of day is for exercise.

While movement can happen at any time (taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking🚗 farther away from the door, stepping away from the computer💻 for a good stretch), exercise is marked by a planned, structured activity that gets your heart rate up.

❤️ Aerobics

❤️ Bike riding

❤️ Kayaking

❤️ Running

❤️ Dancing

❤️ Strength training

So, when do these fit into your day?🤔

It can be different for many of us, and the answer can be approached from two✌️ different perspectives: Physical or Ayurvedic

From a physical perspective, ask questions like:

❓What time of day is it most convenient for me?

Maybe you're a working mom and wife whose only “free” time is first thing in the morning☀️.

Or a retiree enjoying slower mornings with coffee☕ and shifting exercise to an evening salsa class.

❓Should I habit stack with something else?

Yoga before or after a strength💪 training session.

A run or bike🚲 ride while listening to a podcast.

❓Does my exercise balance the rest of my day?

An early-morning walk🚶‍♀️ or dance session might get your blood pumping for the day ahead.

Or, getting up early enough to exercise might leave you lacking in the sleep🥱 department and dragging.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, you want to keep in mind🧠:

Your dosha.

If you don't know yours already, take a quiz like the one on chopra.com to find out.

It really does give insight💭 into the hows and whys of your habits and routines.

The Ayurvedic clock.⏰

⏱️6 am-10 am is Kapha time: You may feel heavier or slower as you clear the sludge from the day before.

⏱️10 am-2 pm is Pitta time: It's the time when your digestive fire is the highest. Its arguably the best time for largest meal of the day, but not ideal for exercise.

⏱️2 pm-6 pm is Vata time: This is often the time to begin to wind down from your day. Take a low-intensity walk, engage in social activities, or even take an afternoon nap!

Your dosha will help you determine where exercise will best fit into your Ayurvedic clock. I encourage you to do some research, as it's really quite interesting!

Now, let's get moving!
