Doctor Inia Raumati is an absolute savage- as well as being an emergency doctor in the intense Auckland Hospital, he also an inspirational adventurer who has taken part in ultra-marathon stage runs all over the world that last for a week.

When we recorded this, he was halfway through an audacious goal to complete events on every continent of the world during 2024.

We talk about these events in depth- the level of planning and preparation is, as you’d expect, next level. These runs are no joke…so don’t be fooled by the way he talks about them like they are no big deal!

Then the professional stuff- his time as a medic in Iraq for the NZ army, his time as a volunteer for the Westpac rescue helicopter and life as an emergency doctor- including working in hospital during the pandemic, the amount of violence and anger the staff encounter every weekend and what it feels like when a patient you are working on dies and so much more. It was a fascinating insight into a world I knew nothing about from a guy who has seen it all!
