In water activities - typically colder water with athletes wearing wetsuits, you may find the term SIPE commonly used. Swimmer Induced Pulmonary Edema (SIPE). But it can be a precursor to more ailments if you let it go untreated that will grow into multiple potentially deadly issues from heat stroke, Pneumonia, and Rhabdo. All of which will delay your time at BUDS, Dive School or doing triathlons.
