MIKEY meets MATTHEW GOODWIN-FREEMAN talk about the United Nations and other stories.
Manage episode 323346598 series 2867947
Matthew Goodwin-Freeman, at 22, is set to become the youngest councillor in the UK, representing the Hatchend Ward in Harrow in the next local elections.
Matthew is here to talk about his work with the United Nations. He is our delegate for Change the World: Model United Nations, New York Conference 2021. There were 13,000 nominations, and Matthew won his place to represent all our youth. He will be championing climate change, health issues and other issues affecting UN nations. The conference has been put back until July, and we hope to get live updates when he is gets there.
Matthew also gives us his insight into the troubles in Ukraine and why we cannot intervene.
Matthew was a young carer. He talks about how this affected him and praises the unsung heroes out there, who, like him, had the responsibility for supporting a loved one at a very young age.
Matthew has promised to come back to let us know about the UN conference and update us on what is going on for him.
(Other councillors are available and can contact us to get on this podcast.
