On today’s podcast we have Josephine Taylor. Josephine is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Writing at Edith Cowan University. Her creative and critical writing has been anthologised and published widely including her new book, ‘Eye of a Rook’.
What I love about this conversation is Josephine’s openness to sharing her experience of Vulvodynia; an unexplained chronic vulva pain. For a lot of her life Jospehine has experienced what she describes as ‘obliterating pain’ and it is in this episode that she shares powerfully the meaning that she has been able to derive from the experience; a redefining of suffering. Initially gagged by shame and embarrassment, Josephine now shares her story with power, a journey from antagonism and resentment to one of deep gratitude, Josephine shares, you cannot not be grateful for something that has brought you wonderful things in your life. Certainly a thought for us all to ponder on.
