In this episode of The Great Exchange—Your Ticket to Growth Through Life Lessons from the Movies, Shevaun, Billy, and Melissa talk about the life-changing themes of the movies Four Weddings and a Funeral, Glory, and Love Actually.
First off, Shevaun shares her insights on why she loves Four Weddings and a Funeral and why, while others would talk about the wedding part of the movie, her great exchange was centered on the funeral scene. Shevaun also describes the scene where the lover of the deceased steps on the podium and reads W.H. Auden’s poem Stop All The Clocks, which made all three presenters tear up.
Billy draws us into the world of the movie Glory, based on a true story, where the relevant theme of “how people within the same country could have that much hate for each other because of slavery at its core” is still significant even today. Billy also provides a rundown of the meaningful points that resonated with him deeply, as a person and as a human being.
Finally, Melissa caps the episode with a comic relief of a movie in Love Actually. Melissa states, “the really amazing thing for me, which is it just shows you that no matter how smart you think you are, there's so much out there in the world that you still can learn and grow from.” She also shares her favorite scene from Love Actually and trivia about it.
