In this short and sweet episode, we chat the training required for becoming a Community Peace Officer with my friend Tara Beauchamp! A former correctional officer, Tara made the move to a Community Peace officer role in Wetaskiwin and recently finished her bridge training required to become a Community Peace Officer 1 with our good friends at Tip Of Spear in Edmonton.
We discuss Tara's journey as a single mom through corrections, the demands of shift work, moving to the community role and all that came with that change, as well as the new training required in that role. From being chased by someone with a pretend knife during a scenario to the online modules that she had to complete, Tara describes the incredible job Tip Of Spear and it's experienced instructors provide.
If you are interested in a career as a Community Peace Officer, THIS episode is one to catch!
Season 3 is proudly sponsored by Alberta Defensive Tactics Training owned by local Peace Officer Jamie Erickson. Jamie has nearly 20 years teaching experience both in the Law Enforcement field and Private sectors, spent 2 years instructing Officer Safety at the Alberta Solicitor General Staff College and has taught hundreds of Emergency Services Personnel throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, The Northwest Territories and the Yukon.
