Target Audience This activity is targeted toward primary care physicians and advanced providers.

Statement of Need This program will provide an overview of recent innovations in genetics, highlighting gene therapy and germline genome editing. The discussion will include a review of what it is as well as applications andfuture trends in gene therapy.

Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:

  • Define gene therapy, germline genome editing and precision medicine.
  • Review the applications of gene therapy and germline genome editing.
  • Explain the differences and clinical implications of whole genome sequencing and whole exome sequencing.
  • Discuss future trends of gene therapy and germline genome editing.
