In the real world, when you are interviewing for a job, it's quite common to be asked by the hiring manager, "based on previous experiences, give me an example of a challenge you faced in your last position that was difficult to address and how you approached the issue and what were the results."
This is a very basic question in the hiring process. It reveals to the interviewer, how you assess challenges, examine solutions and how you addressed the issue.

Today, we are going to examine what was happening AFTER the crucifixion and resurrection? What did the next 40 days look like? What were the emotions, thoughts and questions whirling around in the heads of Christ followers, as well as the onlookers, the Pharisees and politicians? No doubt, the weeks following Jesus’ triumphant entry, his arrest, the trials, verdict, and his mysterious resurrection three days post, was filled with many opposing emotions. For Mary, Martha, Lazarus and all the apostles and witnesses present at the rising of Lazarus from the dead, just hours from Passover commencing, the emotions would have moved from deep sadness to jubilant amazement. Jesus had now been arrested and was standing trial . Surely there was much hope that he would prevail…after all He was the great orator, story teller, wise and able to reach the souls of men in debate…He would convince the powers to yield and surrender! Meeting with Pontius Pilate, the Sadducees and Pharisees HE would prove his case! The teachings, the healings and miracles would prove He IS who He says He is. But the initial meeting turned to trials…ridicule, mockery, lashings, denial and silence from his followers (Peter being the first to deny knowing or testifying on Jesus’ behalf.) Even Pilate found no crime in Jesus and gave the people an option. Jesus or Barabbas? “Give us Barabbas” they cried! “Crucify him” they demanded! ( John 18:35, 37-40 ). Hope was vanquished, taken over by despair, fear of what may come next for those that associated with him…and then the crucifixion! It was official. It was finished! Their messiah was not what they had expected. Rejection, abandonment, confusion, regret maybe for the time they had spent following him. What was Saturday like for his followers ? Lots of questions maybe along with many tears. All seemed lost! Whatever each imagined would happen last week was now dashed…a painful memory of what “could have been.” But on Sunday Mary delivers the message…the tomb is empty!! He is risen! He’s meeting us here tonight!! Surely the disciples thought she was delusional, had snapped and deeply overcome with denial! Emotions, questions, and previously held belief in his promises and messages were suspect. Confusion, debate, anger, what next (can I get my boat back, my nets back?), 3 years of lost income…and for what? What happened that evening? Jesus appeared to those in the upper room. This was their first manifestation of Jesus post his crucifixion. But Thomas wasn’t there, so Jesus came by again… eight days later! This was their second manifestation of Christ . In Acts 2:40-41 we read: “And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.” So to those listening that have also shared similar emotions…doubts, fears, disbeliefs, confusion, anxiety, anger or had questions like those we’ve presented we are encouraging you to do this: Accept that Emotions are natural Ponder them deeply, identify why you are having them They may be leading you to deeper revelation Consider the testimonies of those that believe and are following Christ teachings Listen to your heart as you examine them for truth Truth that stirs your heart is the voice of the Holy Spirit, the voice of God It may come with discomfort but if it speaks true to your heart, listen And when you finally accept what is revealed to you, accept Gods grace…forgive yourself and begin a new with Christ at your side Send us a text…
First and foremost, take a chill pill Chicken Little! The lefts Black Monday crash never arrived but boy did we get 75 some nations to reach out and express interest in renegotiating or removing Tariffs on the US! This has proven to be a rather historic week on the Global stage. Doomsayers anticipated that most nations would retaliate against Trumps move to insist on reciprocal tariffs and fair trade. Turns out, his strategy to bring nations to the rebalancing table worked. Trump announces tariffs on most of the world who’ve been treating America like their sugar daddy, except Daddy hasn’t been getting any sugar for himself. So he’s demanding fair and equal tariffs on imports, which means America will now raise many tariffs to the same level as we’ve been paying for decades. World leaders are now beating a path to the Whitehouse for exemptions or to make deals. Some countries like Argentina, Vietnam, and Israel have removed their tariffs on US goods all together. From Jeff Childers: “A few comments. Between this budget package, the stock market, and the global tariffs, progressive “economic experts” have been doom crying about recession and malaise, and prophesying general economic collapse." “But they have no idea what they are talking about. Nobody has ever trieed this kind of radical fiscal surgery on the American economy before. Between the tax cuts, slashed regulations, pruned federal overhead, DOGE recoveries, stimulus provisions, and the whole-of-government effort, there is simply no way the experts can really predict the outcome. “We are on a whole new economic map. The 1981 Reagan cuts and deregulations came close in ambition , but lacked the global trade disruption; the New Deal was a spending surge, not a tax-slashing one. This is genuinely new. " We’ve done more in 45 days that most presidents did during their entire term." WOW! What an address Trump gave to Congress and the world this past Wednesday! Within the first ten minutes, the Sergeant at Arms was called into service to remove Representative Al Green, Democrat from TX. According to a CBS poll, 76% said they approved of Green, being removed from the chamber after disrupting the president's speech. Finally. Adults are in charge of the nursery! Children democrats with their paddles wouldn’t stand up for ANY of the American accomplishments Trump rattled off. It’s pathetic. If I was a democrat watching NOT ONE of my representatives stand for many of Americas accomplishments I would leave that immature body of children. I would be embarrassed to be affiliated with them. Here’s what I hope democrats at home saw from the party that represents them. NOT ONE Democrat demonstrated they had an independent backbone. NOT ONE had the nerve to break from the herd and stand up to acknowledge the pain, loss or accomplishments of fellow Americans that were recognized as Trumps guest. Not the Laken Riley family, the Comperatore family who lost their dad in Pennsylvania, not the steel worker that has foster over 40 kids, and not even the 13 year old kid fighting brain cancer! Individually they couldn’t recognize these survivors…because the herd would kill them politically if they did. Proving they are only interested in personal political survival…not what’s right for the country. They say they are fighting for the democracy….but a true and healthy democracy isn’t divided like this! This divide proves that democrat politicians don’t work for their constituents…they can’t even recognize and applaud the kids cancer fight!!! They work for the party bosses. NOT ONE stood up nor stood out as one having a heart or a brain. Not one leader amongst them with a heart, a brain or a backbone. Seriously, I think the entire Democrat party needs to be fired and replaced, with progressives, moderates, liberals or even with patriotic democrats … anyone really that is FOR America, SUPPORTERS of any solutions or attempts to improve the system. We simply cannot continue to have a divided house or a divided congress that is this bi-partisan! The Bible teaches that A house divided WILL NOT stand! Here's a few highlights of note: On Social Security: Trump pointed out that over 136,000 social security recipients were over the age of 160. He looks over at RFKJ and says "I guess our country is healthier than we thought Bobby." (Lots of laughs) “The days of unelected bureaucrats running this country is over” Trump announced 1.7 Trillion new investments into American in the past few weeks. I hope you have learned a few things about the Abrahamic Religions that you didn’t know before. Today we will present our conclusions to this study. Christianity places, defines and holds a significant, life changing Tenet that Jews and Muslims do not acknowledge nor revere. That difference is the Life, Work, Teachings and Examples of Christ Jesus, for all Faiths to ponder and accept AS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS! A REDEEMER! WITHOUT A REDEEMER, none of us are worthy to enter the Kingdom of God. Jews nor Muslims recognize that their God sent His Son to stand in the gap for our failure to understand the core tenet of the Creator, (“Love your neighbor as yourself”). The price he paid, as a man, as a rabbi, a prophet …IN DEATH…was not HIS PUNISHMENT for living…BUT OURS! His willingness to submit (to the will of God our Father) and suffer crucifixion, WAS TO PAY FOR ALL OF OUR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE SINS, NOT HIS! He healed and restored many during his ministry, but the Jewish leaders couldn’t accept it. They saw prophecy fulfilled but did not want to acknowledge it, and they witnessed many miracles…yet they see no need for salvation, have no concept of Original Sin (as defined in the first book of their Torah!?) They have no need for “miracles”, yet they WAIT FOR A MESSIAH to make all things right?! Do they not see that Jehovah has been protecting them prior to 1947? How have they survived this long? How do they describe their iron dome? Is that not a miracle in itself? Muslims do not believe in “Original Sin” either. They believe that no one can bear the sin of anyone else, or redeem him with his own self. The Prophet Muhammad proclaimed that redemption and damnation are individual and everyone is his own redeemer for he bears within his heart all possibilities of spiritual success or failure. How can “everyone be their own redeemer” IF NO ONE CAN BEAR THE SIN OF ANYONE ELSE including himself? Both statements cannot be true at the same time! What if I told you that Allah has already GIFTED YOU MERCY!! You can have it NOW…ahead of Paradise! It’s yours to ACCEPT or REJECT. If you accept His GIFT and follow Him, you will see Heaven. If you reject His gift, you’ve rejected Heaven. As a Christian, IF everything I HOLD as Scriptural…and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and pursue it with abandon, with passion, sincerity, love and compassion for ALL PEOPLE...and in the end…we learn that my choosing to follow Christ was RIGHT…my DESTINY and ENTRY INTO PARADISE is GUARANTEED! Also, if I failed to understand something, something we’ve defined as “less significant things” (like a ritual or a man made law), but LOVE others as instructed … I LOSE NOTHING! If you as a Muslim or Jew, in the end, are found to have misinterpreted the SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRIST AS YOUR REPRESENTATIVE REDEEMER…your ETERNITY will be NOTHING CLOSE TO PARADISE. But if a misguided Jew or Muslim is wrong…you lose EVERYTHING! No PARADISE. No PEACE. No REST. No HEAVENLY KINGDOM to come! Today we will take a closer look into who the Sunni’s and Shia are in Islam. Mark and I believe, along with a host of scholars, that we are currently living in HISTORIC and BIBLICAL TIMES in 2025 and it’s important to understand who the Middle Eastern players are and what is their story, so that we can get up to speed in understanding the significance of what’s coming. In the Middle East, Muslims of Islam divided into territories initially by tribes. Borders were fought over and today most have settled their land, their borders and have both striving and thriving economies. Within the Islamic Religion, there lies another conflict that remains unresolved due to disagreements as to whom should have been Muhammad’s successor. Though the two main sects within Islam , Sunni and the Shities or Shia, agree on most of the fundamental beliefs and practices of Islam, a bitter split between the two goes back some 14 centuries . The divide originated with a dispute over who should succeed the Prophet Muhammad as leader of the Islamic faith he introduced. Today, about 85 percent of the approximately 2 billion Muslims around the world are Sunni, while 15 percent are Shia. Shia represent the majority of the population in Iran , Iraq, Bahrain and Azerbaijan and a plurality in Lebanon. Sunnis are the majority in more than 40 other countries, from Morocco to Indonesia. Despite their differences, Sunni and Shia have lived alongside each other in relative peace for most of history. But starting in the late 20th century, the schism deepened, exploding into violence in many parts of the Middle East as extreme brands of Sunni and Shia Islam battle for both religious and political supremacy. “The essence of the problem is that Muhammad died without a male heir, and he never clearly stated who he would want to be his successor,” says Lesley Hazleton, author of After the Prophet: The Epic Story of the Sunni-Shia Split in Islam . “This was important, because by the time he died, he had basically brought all the tribes of Arabia together into a kind of confederation that became the ummah—the people or nation of Islam.” Sunni-Shia divisions would fuel a long-running civil war in Syria , fighting in Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and elsewhere, and terrorist violence on both sides. A common thread in most of these conflicts is the ongoing battle between Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shia Iran for influence in the oil-rich Middle East and surrounding regions. Until non-radicalized, moderate or mainstream peacekeeping Muslims, both followers and Imams, stand up and explain their faith to the rest of us and hold their radicals to account…things will not get better. I hope you have been enjoying this series. Today we’ll start tallying up our Tenets and address the questions we've been posing along the way. There is something Gods people, the collective children of the world, haven’t learned yet, and until we do, there will be conflict and struggle for all of us, that should NOT EXIST!! I would like to believe that IT IS POSSIBLE that WE ALL could agree, that the essence, the mission and purpose, for ALL walks of Faith, is the nurturing and promotion of LOVE as defined in 1 Corinthians 13, regardless of who said it. Look at 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 “If I speak with the tongues of men..., but do not have love , I have become a noisy gong...; and if I have all faith..., but do not have love , I am nothing . Said differently, “if I have all the Faith (all the Faith my Faith teaches), but do not show love, I am nothing! If you have adopted a Faith of your culture, upbringing or individual conviction, but do not share love to others outside of your Faith, your Faith, your religion, your prophet and your conviction is WORTHLESS! In Summary, what can we agree on. That we all were created by an Almighty, omnipresent, omniscient, universal and transcendent CREATOR That He and HE ALONE brings life, gives instruction as to how to live a moral and upright life and hope in a life after That without a DIVINE PROVIDENCE working through each of us, a meaningful and purposeful life is impossible That IF someone believes differently than us, its NOT our job to convert them or judge them but to at least, love them That without LOVE we ARE NOTHING . Period. Our life is nothing, our land and where we live…means nothing, our believed inheritance means nothing…and our DEVOTION TO OUR FAITH means NOTHING (according to 1 Corinthians 13.) What then, becomes subservient to the “AGREED ON” TENETS? That eating habits or legalistic dietary laws, could be practiced or not practiced by anyone that opts in, without judgement of others That continual fighting over former inheritance claims to lands is NOT A WAY TO HEAVEN or PARADISE for believers today That any and all currently shared HOLY GROUNDS should and must remain revered and protected HOLY GROUND … SHARED by ALL That Scriptures or teachings that are unique to your Faith, must not claim dominance or superiority over other Faiths NONE OF US ARE BETTER THAN THE OTHER! We all fall short of the glory of God. If you believe otherwise, you should be held back. Judaism does not target or seek out the uncircumcised for persecution, execution or extinction. Specifically, Israel is not trying to conquer new lands or overthrow another Faith. “You have been severed from Christ, (God), you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. (Here we have a WARNING for all Faiths). For we through the Spirit (spirit of Yahweh, Allah, or Christ), by faith, are waiting for the hope of righteousness.” Galatians 5:4-5 “For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”” (All faiths should be able to accept this statement). Today, we will be digging deeper into these different Faiths, the significance of Jerusalem and what each Faith deems to be their HOLY LAND and why. Jewish theology is unitarian. In Judaism, the one God of Israel is the God of Abraham, Isaac , and Jacob , delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt , and gave them the 613 Mitzvot at Mount Sinai as described in the Torah . Jewish tradition claims that the Twelve Tribes of Israel are descended from Abraham through his son Isaac (Isaac first appears in the Torah , in which he is the son of Abraham and Sarah , the father of Jacob and Esau , and the grandfather of the twelve tribes of Israel .) In contrast, Islamic tradition claims that twelve Arab tribes known as the Ishmaelites are descended from Abraham through his son Ishmael in the Arabian Peninsula. ( Ismael ) was the first son of Abraham . His mother was Hagar , the handmaiden of Abraham's wife Sarah .) Jerusalem is considered Judaism's holiest city . Its origins can be dated to 1004 BCE,when according to Biblical tradition David established it as the capital of the United Kingdom of Israel, and his son, Solomon built the First Temple on Mount Moriah . Since the Hebrew Bible relates that Isaac's sacrifice took place there, Mount Moriah's importance for Jews predates even these prominent events. According to the New Testament , Jerusalem was the city Jesus was brought to as a child to be presented at the temple, and for the feast of the Passover . He preached and healed in Jerusalem, drove the money changers from the temple there, held the Last Supper in an "upper room" there the night before he was crucified on the cross and was arrested in Gethsemane . Today, we will be launching a multi-part series into the differences and similarities between the three Abrahamic Religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This study hopes to identify insights into how can we all (all people of God and all people of Faith) co-exist in Peace. WHAT principles, doctrines and human morality DO OUR FAITHS SHARE and leave everything else off to the side. The Abrahamic religions are a grouping of three major religions that revere Abraham in their scripture. These religions are Judaism , Christianity , and Islam . Abrahamic religions make up the largest total number of adherents. Christianity and Islam comprise the largest and second-largest religious movements in the world, respectively. According to 2024 estimates, there are 2.4 billion Christians in the world, 2 billion followers of Islam and 16 million Jewish followers. My reasoning for focusing of the three Abrahamic faiths, versus others…is simple. These are three that seem to fight over everything. Why does God, Yahweh, and Allah, differ so radically within each of these Faiths? To begin, we need to first ask, what do we, all faiths, share in common AND where do we differ? Is it possible that even today, the story of Babel has yet to conclude? Are we still all living in Babel? Purposely and divinely still unable to communicate and if so…why? Even though all three revere Abraham as significant to their faith, there are significant differences. For example, the common Christian doctrines of Jesus' Incarnation , the Trinity , and the resurrection of Jesus , are NOT ACCEPTED in Judaism nor Islam. While Judaism and Islam acknowledges and mentions Jesus in their scriptures, they DO NOT revere Jesus as anything more than a prophet. He is not the Messiah and He is not the Son of God. Why is understanding this important? Today, in the daily discussion of 2025, in every nation regardless of stated or written doctrines, the concept that there is a separation of Church and State is NOT practiced. Religious beliefs are deeply untwined in and inseparable in geopolitics. Until all nations and faiths can learn to coexist peacefully, we ALL suffer falling short of what God the Creator intended for ALL his people! All Abrahamic religions accept the tradition that God revealed himself to the patriarch Abraham. All of them are monotheistic , ( meaning worshiping an Exclusive God ), although one who is known by different names. Polytheism Is a belief in or worship of more than one God. In context, Christians are Polytheistic because they adopt the concept and relationship of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit . Today, we are going to take a look at the significance or symbolism of numbers in the Bible. First a bit of history regarding numerology. The earliest records of Numerology came from Egyptian and Babylonian civilizations, but there are also signs of its use in ancient Rome, China, Greece, and Japan. Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher, is often credited with modern numerology. Biblical numerology is the study of how numbers in the Bible carry deeper symbolic meanings beyond their literal use. Throughout Scripture, certain numbers appear with recurring significance, representing themes such as God’s completeness, perfection, or divine order. In the Bible, numbers can have many purposes, such as conveying something significant in the narrative: prophetically, spiritually, or symbolically. The number three appears in the Bible 467 times. Jesus goes back to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane three times (Matthew 26:4). God calls the prophet Samuel three times (1 Samuel 3:8). Jesus repeats the phrase “feed my sheep” to Peter three times (John 21:15-17). We see several instances of three of the same words in a row. Woe (three of them) are called out by an eagle in revelation, foreshadowing terrible judgment We can’t talk three without discussing how Jesus rose after three days (1 Corinthians 15:4). In Jewish culture, three days past death indicated they were truly dead. Therefore, Jesus truly conquered death by not rising until the third day. In Scripture, we have three patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Matthew 22:32). These were the fathers of the Israelite nation, God’s people. There were three gifts brought to the Manger. The Magi present to Jesus with three gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh in Matthew 2.7. Here’s a detailed exploration of its symbolism: Divine Wholeness and the Trinity : The most theologically significant occurrence of the number 3 in Christianity is the doctrine of the Trinity, which is one God in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Resurrection and Redemption : Jesus Christ's resurrection on the third day is a pivotal event in Christian theology, symbolizing victory over death and the promise of eternal life. Patterns of Testing and Validation : The number 3 frequently appears in contexts of testing and affirmation in the Bible. The Copper Scroll from Qumran is a unique Dead Sea Scroll, written on copper sheets, that is believed to be a list of hiding places for large quantities of gold and silver treasure, a "treasure map" detailing locations across the Judea wilderness where these valuables were buried. Scholars debate whether the treasure actually exists or if the scroll is a fictional account, but its cryptic language and specific descriptions of hiding spots have captivated researchers for decades. Jim Barfield, a retired arson criminal investigator from the Oklahoma Fire Department is on the hunt for the truth and his unique investigative perspectives to decoding the text has gained the attention of many archaeologists, scholars, religious institutions and nations. Origin: Discovered in a cave near the Qumran site, where the majority of Dead Sea Scrolls were found, leading scholars to associate it with the community that lived there, possibly the Essenes. Material: Unlike other Dead Sea Scrolls made of parchment or papyrus, the Copper Scroll is written on thin sheets of copper, which has helped preserve the text despite its age. Contents: The scroll lists numerous locations with detailed descriptions of where to find caches of gold, silver, and other precious items, often referencing landmarks and geographical features. The treasure is vast, far beyond what we could imagine would be the property of an individual or even a group, unless they were the rulers of a nation . … If we look at the Copper Scroll closely in terms of its contents, this treasure seems to come from a temple—perhaps the Temple in Jerusalem —and was secreted away in 64 (or perhaps 61) locations, most of which are close to Jericho. The enormous size of the treasure, as well as the presence of cultic terminology (e.g., references to tithes, priestly vestments) included in the text, indicates the treasure’s sacred origin. Could it be that... The treasure represents the antiquities recovered from the destruction of the Second Temple of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Josephus, a first century historian, states that those treasures were still in the building at the time of its destruction and were not removed for posterity or safekeeping. The copper scroll refers to the treasures recovered from the First Temple of Jerusalem, destroyed by the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC. Today we are going to attempt to compare two pictures or stories, one from years gone by and one that is most recent and occurs every year, to see if we can wring any more drops of practical wisdom from the story of Joshua at the walls of Jericho, that could change our lives for the better in the new year. The story of Joshua leading the Israelites to bring down the walls of Jericho is a powerful account that demonstrates the faithfulness and might of the Lord, AND the faithfulness and courage He requires of His servants. You can find the story in Joshua 6:1-22. In his youth, Joshua was a servant to Moses. His entire life he had served side by side Mose, as his number two, faithful, loyal and true. He was there to witness the receipt of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai and He was one of the twelve spies sent into Canaan to spy out the land of Promise. And before Mose died, he declared Joshua as his successor with the mission being to finish what God and Moses started…get to the Promise Land. Jericho is the first city the Israelites would have come to after crossing the Jordan into Canaan, so naturally, it had to be conquered first. Some might say God gave Joshua “very specific” instructions on what to do to cause the walls of Jericho to collapse. I would argue that God gave him very bizarre instructions…instructions that to fully follow…would require you to surrender all you thought you knew about military dominance, leadership, pride, dreams of valiantly leading a charge on a mighty city…at the Jordan. Instructions that would cause you to reevaluate your level or definition of FAITH. “On the seventh day, they marched around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in” ( Joshua 6:4-5 , 20). So what are we missing? Ah yes. A leader for the band. To be truthful, there are TWO things missing. Where would we look today to find a man worthy enough to lead? One that has spent his entire life serving another who was serving the people of their nation and taking instruction only from God. Who today is qualified? Biden? General Milk Toast Milley? Any other living Commanders come to mind? How about The Pope? Any Bishops or Cardinals come to mind? Remember. We are looking for someone like Joshua, filled with the spirit of wisdom (Deuteronomy 34:9), who is faithful, loyal, true, strong and courageous. (Deuteronomy 31:7, 8, 23, Joshua 1:6,7,9) Billy Graham comes to mind but he, like Moses has already crossed over. What was the second thing missing? The Ark of the Covenant. It was a central element of the tabernacle and later the temple in ancient Israel, symbolizing God's presence and covenant with the Israelites. But that’s Old Testament teaching right? What about the New Covenant? The anticipation of this covenant pushes the story forward into the pages of the New Testament, where we are introduced to Jesus (Matt. 26:26-29; Luke 22:19-22). Aren’t all BELIEVERS in CHRIST considered to be the BODY OF CHRIST? Aren’t we also to be filled with the Holy Spirit, His Holy Word, with Power and Authority to speak truth into darkness. Have we not been given the Armor of God mentioned in Ephesians 6. You can be that influencer in your circle of friends. Like Joshua, let your faith in God SHOW. Be Strong and Courageous in ALL circumstances. Don’t be afraid to Lead. Simply spend more time with God…discern His Voice, urgings and callings, even if they sound a bit crazy. Send us a text…
HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody! Welcome to 2025! We’re all ALIVE and it’s time to THRIVE! What’s the meaning behind our shows Title…One Day Closer? The simple answer is…Everyday we wake up with breath, we are all one day closer to either finishing our race here on earth, well or poorly. Not to sound morbid, but none of us are guaranteed our next day or our next breath here on Earth. Our bodies and our internal workings are an amazing self-contained tapestry of Gods handiwork. And on the bright side we are also one day closer to realizing our dreams, hopes, finding that right girl or guy to spend the rest of your life with, one day closer to prayers being answered and blessings and goals being realized. Our hope and suggestion by the way, would be to lock down your future enteral destiny FIRST. While there’s still time, choose Jesus. You’ll never have to worry about “what if I get cancer, what if I get hit by a bus tomorrow or what if my heart stops working properly.” None of that matters once you have your relationship with God right. Everyday afterwards, becomes a blessing, a gift and a calling! Like Mark says, “Be Bigger, do More!” What our tag line means “To Rekindle a spirit of hope and truth into the crazy discussion of the day.” Why? So that we can all be WHAT our families, friends and total strangers need us to be…a voice of reason, hope and light in a dark world. We felt millions of Americans (both parents and students) were loosing hope…were struggling with all the lies the administration was feeding us. We both felt it was time to inject biblical interpretation and perspective into the crazy discussions of the day. We questioned the Covid scare, the mad scientist Fauci, and the government overreach. Let's make ourselves Bigger and More. For the last 4 years, these tyrannical, world-contolling cartoon villains have been trying to suppress us, to make us smaller and less. All during Covid they were saying "Stay home. Don't go out. Keep your kids home from school. Be afraid. Restrict your holidays. Mask up. Don't visit grandma. Keep your friends at a distance." And it was all based on lies and a manufactured crisis. There's another manufactured crisis called climate change and again they're telling us to be afraid, be smaller and less. They say, "Reduce your carbon footprint. Drive less. Buy small cars. Don't eat meat. Get rid of your gas stove and furnace. Turn down your thermostat." Everything they tell us to do is trying to make us smaller and less. These cartoon villain’s have been trying to cancel us. To restrict our speech, telling us to be offended by every little thought crime they can imagine. They've been telling us to "sit down and shut up. There's no reason to be joyful. We have many more lies to tell you to bring you down. So just sit down and stay in your place." But Dave and I think everyone's New Year Resolution should be to stand up! Be bold and loud! Have fun. Back in August, we took a closer look at Covenant Relationships and what they mean. We thought it might be worth repeating as we enter into the new year. In our show entitled “Our Encounter with a Messenger” (E 169); Michael the Messenger left us with this instruction: “Study Covenant Relationships.” So we did. There are FIVE foundational Covenants with man in the Bible. Noahic Covenant Abrahamic Covenant Mosaic Covenant Davidic Covenant Jesus Is the Covenantal Climax But first, a little history on covenants. The term "covenant" is of Latin origin (con venire), meaning a coming together. It presupposes two or more parties who come together to make a contract, agreeing on promises, stipulations, privileges, and responsibilities. God covenanted [or promised] with Noah after the flood that a like judgment should not be repeated. The principal covenants are the covenant of works --God promising to save and bless men on condition of obedience --and the covenant of grace, or God's promise to save men on condition of their believing in Christ and receiving him as their Master and Savior. The New Testament authors present Jesus as the offspring of Abraham who trusted Yahweh, even to the point of death, and became a blessing to all nations. He is the greater Moses, leading us out of bondage, and he is the obedient Israelite who perfectly follows the laws of God. He is the royal son of David who inaugurated God’s Kingdom in his life, death, and resurrection, and who now sits at God’s right hand forever reigning as the one true King. Jesus perfectly succeeded at every point where humanity failed. He is the guarantor and mediator of the new and better covenant (Heb. 7:22, 9:15). Now people from every nation, tribe, and tongue who trust Jesus can become a part of God’s covenant family. In the new covenant, we receive the forgiveness of sins and God’s empowering Spirit to help us live lives full of self-giving love. Because of Jesus, we can live righteously and partner with him as he renews the world. And from Jesus he only asks us to BELIEVE! If not in himself, then in the works that he did! John 3:16 Whomsoever believes. No works required. Simply believe. Yet there are countless benefits, promises and empowering traits or attributes of character that are PROMISED to those that surrender all and accept the call (challenge) to “work towards” the same objectives Christ taught. Insight, discretion, power, authority, wisdom, strength, understanding, compassion, purpose, etc, etc comes to mind. These were NOT given to the man on the cross that asked Christ to forgive him…he was going to die…he had no time to use these gifts…but Jesus said..today you will be with me in Paradise. He simply believed. There were no works for this brother. But to those that remain, those that are alive today in Christ…these believers have been given many promises, gifts, talents and authority…because we have a job to do…until we don’t. Viewership fell sharply within 24 hours of Trumps victory at ALL of the main stream legacy media outlets. MSNBC, according to reports, enjoyed six million viewers per day. On Thursday, two days after the election, they had 600,000. A loss of 5.4 million viewers. The others weren’t far behind. If they were smart, they would immediately come clean and admit the errors of their ways. Surely they know that when politicians get caught in a lie, usually the public is quick to forgive and forget IF they at least admit their mistake and apologize. They say that “honesty is always the best policy” … But most folks don’t believe they can change their stripes… What they should say to their listeners, especially to those that left and to those they shamed, SHOULD sound something like this: (this is a template draft I wrote for them…to help them out … knowing how difficult it would be to get started). So here we go. “This network for the past several years lost our way and veered off our national mission of serving the public as watchdogs and truth seekers, the purveyors of honest journalism. We allowed our Federal Exemptions and access to Beltway interests to cloud our judgement. Our Journalistic oath to serve the American people with unbiased reporting and balanced investigative journalism became, well, tainted. Instead of taking decisive actions to correct this malfeasance, we opted to double down, again and again, selling the soul of our networks reputation for money, clicks, influence and power. We demanded the same of all our staff, from writers to editors, journalist and newscasters. All were strongly encouraged to sell their souls for a seat at the table. We have all failed our listeners, subscribers, readers and the American people. To be honest and in the spirit of transparency, we purposely and willingly chose this path to distort the truth, leaned heavily on negative, false and hateful rhetoric with the hope that such actions would tilt the scales in our favor…to advance narratives we knew going in, were false. We knew full well, that this departure from our oath could have serious consequences…yet we chose this path with great fervor, believing that we knew better than our readers, subscribers and viewers, what needed to be done, so we doubled down on every story, every lie, and did our very best to promote hatred for the candidate that would not continue to give us free rein and access to opportunities we found favorable to us. Heavenly Father. We come to you in prayer today, knowing that You are more than the God of the Universe, you are ALSO the God of Love, Peace, Compassion and Justice . Four attributes of you AND of your making, that today, have withered on the vine, and must be restored for mankind to continue to survive and thrive in any land. Over millennium, man has struggled to understand just who we are in You, and to fully comprehend what our purpose is. We all have experienced the healing power of Love, Peace, Compassion and Justice before, but today, we have lost our ability to understand how to deploy these gifts, in the Hope that all would come to the knowledge of who you are… or the seeds have fallen on dead soil. America is a divided nation, and we know through scripture, that a house divided cannot stand. In the real world, when you are interviewing for a job, it's quite common to be asked by the hiring manager, "based on previous experiences, give me an example of a challenge you faced in your last position that was difficult to address and how you approached the issue and what were the results." Our text today (Revelation 16:12-16) as we explore scriptures surrounding Har-Magedon, should help us understand what Armageddon is; where is it located; what will happen there; and when will it begin. First, Har-Magedon is a Hebrew compound word, meaning “mountain of Megiddo,” which is located in North central Israel. Many mountains come together to form this great valley. In this valley many battles were fought, many trade routes were established and many people traveled through here, thru’out time, as it was a natural crossroad to get to many places in the Middle East. It is also known that this area included conflict, division and decision. But the battle of Armageddon points us to something much bigger than a simple valley or a physical future war. It is a symbol of a spiritual battle being fought for each one of us. John specifically uses “Mountain of Megiddo” or Har-Magedon, language used in Revelation 16 to point us back to the showdown on Mount Carmel. The most significant mountain by the valley of Megiddo - by any measure - is Mount Carmel, where Elijah called the nation of Israel to make a decision FOR or AGAINST God. In 1 Kings 18:21 he asked, “how long halt ye between two opinions? The true issue or message behind Armageddon is more than real estate or military dominance. It is a symbol of the ultimate controversy when the destiny of every person on earth is going to be settled once and for all. It is the battle that decides whether or not Christ is your Lord. Which God will you serve? The god of self? The god of money? Or the God of Heaven? Revelation 19:11-16 is a description of the resolution of the great conflict. This is the climax of the battle for your eternity. Jesus Christ returns to set the record straight…sin and suffering will be done away with once and for all. Revelation 16:20-21 describes those who are not ready for Christ to come. There is no need to be among them! Revelation 22:11 acknowledges that not all will choose God. Is John describing a physical battle? Are all the people of the world going to get on planes to hang out in the region of Har-Magedon. I don’t think so. The clue about the frogs being demons tells us that this is a spiritual battle. “Our war is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph 6:12). “Heavenly” just means the places we can’t see, the spiritual world. John uses the ancient reference of Armageddon to remind people that when God moves in the physical world, he’s also moving in the spiritual world. John is saying that this great battle in the vision is God’s will being accomplished. Armageddon isn’t a place…it’s an event…a spiritual battle of conflict and decision. Today we are going to give you the Symbolism Connections referenced in Rev 16:13+. Here's the code. Symbolism in Revelation: Dragon = Satan (Rev 12:9), Lion of Judah = Jesus, frogs = demons (Rev 16:13), Beasts = nations, Horns = rulers of nations. A quick review of the nations mentioned in the story of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream: (see Daniel 2). Daniel 2:31-35: In the dream, Nebuchadnezzar saw a great statue made up of several different metals: a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet of iron mixed with clay. Daniel 2:38: The head of gold represents Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian empire (605 - 539 BC) (this was the first kingdom conquered by); The Medo-Persia empire (539-331 BC) represents the chest and arms of silver. The Persians were conquered by the Greeks under Alexander the Great (331- 168 BC), represented by the belly and thighs of brass. The Greeks were conquered by Rome (168 BC - 476 AD). Rome being legs of Iron mentioned in Daniel 2:40 The Romans were defeated by the Barbarian tribes, which disintegrated into 10 divisions (representing the feet and toes of iron and clay (Daniel 2:41). The Barbarian tribes eventually became the modern nations of Western Europe. Alemanni = Germans; Visigoths = Spanish; Franks = French; Suevi = Portuguese; Burgundians = Swiss; Anglo-Saxons = British; Lombards = Italians The Heruli, Vandals and Ostrogoths are all extinct. The reunification of the Western Roman Empire is a dream that has failed every time. European monarchs attempted to establish unity, Charles V tried and failed, Louis XIV of France failed, Napoleon failed, The Kaiser failed, Hitler failed…ALL failed because God told Daniel that “they will not adhere to one another.” (See Daniel 2:42) Those seven prophetic words have controlled destiny for more than 1500 years…the only thing that will unify the Western Roman Empire - is the arrival of the GREAT STONE of Nebuchadnezzar’s area,..the Kingdom of God which is mentioned in Daniel 2:45 We are currently living in the toes of the image, in the “days of these kings” (Daniel 2:44). Everything in this prophecy has already taken place except one thing - There are no new kingdoms to come in the prophecy…only the kingdom of God. The typical teaching says that there’s this place in Israel where many nations are going to gather to fight this great battle against Israel. What made this teaching new to us, was that they went back into the old testament to help interpret the passage in Revelation, which is a great practice, but I have never heard someone do this with Rev 16:13, which talks about Armageddon. Mount Sinai where Moses was given the 10 Commandments Elisha called down fire to consume the gods of Baal. (Mt. Carmel, 1Kings 18) King Saul fought his last battle and died, along with his son Jonathon. (Gilboa) Later, the transfiguration took place where Moses, Elijah and Jesus were all glorified before Peter, James, and John. (Mt. Tabor) The valley between these mountains is Har-Magedon (in the original Hebrew language), which we translate to Armageddon. If you have ever tried to read the book of Revelation to understand John’s vision, you like many others, have probably struggled to understand all the players and events described within. In full disclosure, mark and I are NOT masters of anything of note, but we are devoted to learning as much as we can about God, Jesus, His plan, His vision and His promises for each of us. This past week, Mark and I attended a multi-evening seminar entitled “Discovering Revelation,” presented by a well educated, highly credentialed Theologian of Bible Prophecy, Pastor and Doctor of Ministry, Rodlie Ortiz. Rodlie Ortiz, Dr. of Ministry, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University, and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, and we are grateful for his insights as we explore Revelation. I think its safe to say, that most folks who venture into the deep writings of John, are on a quest to discover who the Antichrist is and possibly find a clue as to when will these End of Days arrive. But the insights and connections within the book of Revelation offers much more understanding, as Pastor Ortiz says, IF we allow, the Bible to interpret itself. But first, let’s address an age old question straight away. Can we really understand the vision, the cast of characters and associated prophecies? Who could possibly understand it first and foremost, and secondly, are we even suppose to try? 2 Peter 1:19 teaches that we should “take heed” to what prophecy is teaching us. (19): So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you would do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.” This passage also indicates in verse 20 that “no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation”…which means that understanding Bible prophecy is NOT just for a privileged few…but God intended for everyone to understand it. In Revelation 1:3, God promises a blessing on those who read the book of Revelation and keep the things that are written in it. The angel also instructs John in Revelation 22:7-10 that the book of Revelation is NOT TO BE SEALED, for the time is near. Did you know that nearly two-thirds of the book of Revelation is composed of language borrowed from other parts of the Bible? I didn’t either. With that intro, let’s get started. Tool number one. Let the Bible interpret itself. I thought this was a good visual from Pastor Ortiz. When you come to scripture or reference that’s unclear, ZOOM out a chapter to see if there’s a cross reference. You might even have to ZOOM out further, to find a cross reference in a completely different book or even refer to a different testament. Example: Revelation 16:12 - “And the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; as its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east.” What does that mean? In Daniel 5, we learn the story of Belshazzar (grandson to Nebuchadnezzar) who’s throwing a wild blasphemous party to reassure the citizens of Babylon that their city was indestructible. They needed reassuring because a massive “army from the east” - the Medo-Persian army - was just outside the city walls. Cyrus the Persian King could not break through the walls, so he decided to go under them, by redirecting / draining the Euphrates River which happened to run right through the city. You can read more about this fulfillment of prophecy found in Isaiah 44:27-45:1, which was written more than 100 years before Cyrus was even born. Jack Hibbs, Pastor out of CA has a YouTube sermon called “The beginning of the end.” This is hot off the press as of October 2024. You have never seen a church service like this one…current events and prophecy being fulfilled and explained from a Pulpit!!! We are witnessing biblical prophecy unfold before our very eyes…no doubt a divine and significant movement of God. As we are recording, Israel is poised and has promised to strike Iran directly in a crippling way. Currently, the US has 16 war ships and their support flotillas amassed in support of Israel. Six are in the Mediterranean Sea (west of Israel) and ten war ships are in the Red Sea to the south of Yemen and Jordon. To help visualize the chess pieces on the board, to the west of Israel, is the Mediterranean Sea. Tel Aviv and The West Bank is centrally located in Israel and Gaza is on the southwest border of Israel. Lebanon is their bordering neighbor to the north, Jordon to the east and Egypt borders the south. As you know, Hamas, a terrorist proxy of Iran, based in Gaza, and living amongst the Palestinian’s, albeit under the city of Gaza for protection, dropped out of the sky via hang gliders on October 7…one year ago, and massacred some 1200 Israel kids (young adults) attending an outdoor music festival. No provocation. Just evil unleashed. The IDF, Israelis Defense Force, for nearly a year have attempted to clear Hamas fighters from Gaza. They discovered 1500 miles of underground tunnels, under mosques, under schools, hospitals, and under playgrounds…tunnels you can drive trucks through in places. They discovered weapons cashes inside hospitals and schools. Hiding if you will behind and within the Palestinian Gaza residents. To the south, the Houthi’s, based in Yemen, fired rockets and drones at both Israel and US battleships. In the north, Hezbollah in Lebanon, picked up their involvement and started launching rockets at Israel. Here’s our first glimpse of Bible prophesy. “Nations coming against Israel”…in the 21st century. If you have just found us, Mark and I covered this initial attack on Israel, in great detail, in Episodes E85, 86, 87 and 88, E115-119, complete with biblical references, geography ownership…a great series for anyone that wants to understand the biblical significance of these events. Two weeks ago Benjamin Netanyahu changed the course of the War against his country. He switched from defense to offense . Remember the 3,000 pagers Israel intercepted and rigged to detonate in the hands or pants of the Hamas rebels? And two days later, when Hamas switched over to handheld radios, BB had those rigged as well to blow up! What this did was break the communications of the enemy, making comms, logistics and future coordinated attacks impossible. This past week, while attending the UN Summit, when Benjamin Netanyahu came up to address the nations, many nations of the middle East, stood up and walked out. Some say this was a prophecy fulfilled, “when nations turned their back on Israel.” Just after his address, BB gave the green light via a phone call to launched a massive attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon for their missile attacks into northern Israel, the week prior. Who did God choose to use in the past to lead the people? Nehemiah- a man of prayer, compassion for his people with multiple skill sets willing to deploy them for the good of his people. Samuel for his vision Solomon for his wisdom David for his faith in God Rehab for her discernment Job endured unearned abuse; Daniel would not bow to the king Prophets for their honest assessment But remember, not one was perfect, but their gifts were deployed. He also used evil corrupt kings to punish his people for idol worship and for not following Gods laws and to humble the people back to seeking Gods face. So it’s possible, that God could choose Marxist and Socialist, like he used the Babylonians, Philistines, and others to wreak havoc of the land in hopes that people would turn back to God. Who would our enemies prefer? Would they not prefer someone they could manipulate, someone weak, someone that would capitulate to their every desire? China was heavily invested in Biden and now will settle for Harris. Russia doesn’t want Trump. Putin wants to continue unchecked. Iran doesn't want to be broke again and is trying to assassinate Trump. Each of these countries desires a weaker leader for America, not a strong leader like Trump. You need to understand why and the consequences should our enemy gets their way. So where do we go from here? What do we individually wrestle with in making a Godly choice? What characteristics would we choose to focus on, prioritize or elevate if we desired strong, respected, leadership? How would each candidate represent us on the global front? Considering the priorities, motivations and tactics of our enemies, we should value highly our candidates ability to confront and influence bullies, dictators and war mongers. A street wise leader that does not bend the knee to corruption or manipulation. Noting we are in the throes of an election, maybe one of the most significant election of our time, we ask this question: What criteria, what characteristics of both candidates and policies should we model in making our decision? Notice the title of this show is not WHO would Jesus vote for but HOW would Jesus choose. How would he separate chaff from the wheat? Would he value "servant centric" character traits over theatrics? Would he choose a candidate based on their religion, ethnicity, education or status? Would he choose a leader that had proven faithful with little things as a qualifier to be given more responsibility or something else? How about their circle of friends, skin color, or gender? Would he choose a candidate based on their rhetoric, what others are saying about them or would he value their past performance? Would he want his choice to be a person that is transparent, sincere, and honest or someone that hides the truth from the flock, whose motives are unclear and dishonest…unable or unwilling to tell the truth? Does he prefer hypocrites over doers or deceivers over true tellers? How would Jesus rank the key issues / polices of our day? Are women's reproductive options the most important issue of the day or would law, order and justice for ALL be paramount? Are Border concerns across the globe more important issues than Gender Confusion? My guess is he would rank them as follows: Principled Leadership Practical Real Expertise Chose wisdom as guide Widows and orphans first Don’t cause a child to stumble Eco 101. Work & get blessed Fair methodology to justice What attributes of character would Jesus demand: A servants heart, meaning you can't serve two masters A servant heart driven by the needs of all the people Serving out of conviction and purpose and not susceptible to bribes A Transparent truthful heart A Doer vs a talker A promise maker & keeper One who is confident One strong & courageous Would abortion issues be paramount or justice? Would he even approach abortion from the same perspective as our current debate? Wouldn’t he advocate for righteous behavior and good decision making over a way out for promiscuity? And in the case of rape and incest, would he choose life options for the child like adoption, and advocate for law, order and justice at the same time? The shooter may have been a lunatic, threatened, scared or just trigger happy. Either way…post the initial round, things escalate…and they often do so quickly. Today we are going to take a look at a few Bible characters that most of us know quite well. But don’t let the title fool you…It’s not Michael Jackson. David the Giant-Slayer and Joseph the Dream Interpreter. Who hasn’t heard the story of David and Goliath? David - the shepherd boy turned giant-slayer. Before he became known throughout Judea, all of Israel, and around the world as a “mighty man of valor,” for his most courageous and noble battle in the valley of Elah, he was just a boy, the youngest of eight sons, and the least important in his fathers eyes. Yet in the eyes of His heavenly Father, David was a man after God’s own heart. There's a lot we can learn about Godly character, faith, courage, patience, determination, holy boldness and confidence in God as we ponder the backstory of events going on in 1 Samuel 17. David knew God. David knew his gifts and talents. He understood that the battle is God's, not his. We'll see how Goliath represents all the accusatory voices of darkness and oppression and how to ignore them. Taking a closer look at Joseph, the dreamer and eventually the master architect of the first successful Food Management Program ahead of famine, we'll see that Joseph could have seen himself as a victim, but he carried on nonetheless. Like David, he too was the youngest in his family. He too had unique gifts and was destine to be used by God to save many lives, but the pathway there would be fraught with many setbacks. Abandoned by his brothers for suggesting his star was brighter than theirs, they sold him into slavery in Egypt. But he found favor with Potaphor, and undesired favor from Potaphor’s wife…which leads to prison. While in prison, he shares an interpretation of a dream with two cell mates. Like David, his reputation (his gifts, his attitude and his faithfulness to God) was recognized by others and proceeded him...opening the door to new opportunities. So who do you see when you look into the mirror? Do you see the heart of a Lion, a mighty man of Valor and a man after Gods own heart, like David? Or do you see the timid, spineless fearful soldiers that refused to step forward to face Goliath? Do you see yourself as a victim, wrongfully treated by your own family, wrongly accused and locked up in prison like Joseph was? I hope the reflection you see in the Mirror, for maybe the first time in your life…is the man or women that God sees . A forgiven, embattled warrior for the KING that has been given more than enough to OVERCOME the Goliaths that haunt you. I hope you see yourself still in the fight, rendering your gifts freely even when you feel overlooked or maybe missed your chance, like Joseph did. Again, in the spirit of Late Night with David letterman… here are our Top 10 things that may be holding the advancement of Gods Kingdom back. 10. The Warring Angels are on Holiday, hence evil is running rampant 9. God is still searching for the 144,000 Chosen so he can begin to prepare them for whatever he has planned 8. God has given the world over to Satan for a season to refine His Chosen , like he did for Job. 7. God is simply not ready yet. He wants chaos to continue UNTIL we repent! Could America survive 4 more years under Commrade Chaos Kamala? The ones that follow Christ could! 6. Our Spiritual Leadership (Pastors, Priests, Imans, etc) have mislead us or they are clueless themselves to as to how best to STIR their congregations to grow up in Christ. God is waiting for all the chess pieces to align on the global scale that will usher in the next wave of repentance or events prior to Judgement Day. RFKJ and Calley Means, author of Good Energy, quotes a whole host of stats that ARE existential threats to Americans of all ages. 70% of our diets are ultra processed foods. 30% of young adults are pre diabetes; 50% of young adults are overweight or obese; 40% of youth are diagnosed with mental health disorders; these stats were closer to Zero just a generation ago! Our biggest institutions (from Big Pharma to hospitals, doctors and medical institutions PROFIT when our kids are diagnosed with these chronic diseases. Regardless of who wins the Presidency, find your calling (your gift, passion and battlefield), find your voice, trust God to provide FAVOR and engage. New Vaccination Mandate for all deep state actors, politicians, questionable judges, media anchors, attorneys, and justices. The new vaccine requires them to take six boosters of truth serum and then be interviewed on national news by a panel of truth seekers. 19. A federal ban on Stupidity. Anyone found saying something stupid (defined as any statement proven as non-sense or unreasonable) is immediately fired (regardless of rank, wealth or status), and banned from holding any future position of power. 18. A federal ban on lying, cheating, stealing, including any deceptive statements or actions, that again can be proven as such, by an oversight committee of 9 and verified by a secondary audit committee of 7. In our show entitled “Our Encounter with a Messenger” (E 169); Michael the Messenger left us with this instruction: “Study Covenant Relationships” So we did. There are FIVE foundational Covenants with man in the Bible. But first, a little history on covenants. The Idea of Covenant. The term "covenant" is of Latin origin ( con venire ), meaning a coming together. It presupposes two or more parties who come together to make a contract, agreeing on promises, stipulations, privileges, and responsibilities. God covenanted [or promised] with Noah after the flood that a like judgment should not be repeated. The principal covenants are the covenant of works --God promising to save and bless men on condition of obedience --and the covenant of grace , or God's promise to save men on condition of their believing in Christ and receiving him as their Master and Saviour. Noahic Covenant Abrahamic Covenant Mosaic Covenant Davidic Covenant Jesus Is the Covenantal Climax The New Testament authors present Jesus as the offspring of Abraham who trusted Yahweh, even to the point of death, and became a blessing to all nations. He is the greater Moses, leading us out of bondage, and he is the obedient Israelite who perfectly follows the laws of God. He is the royal son of David who inaugurated God’s Kingdom in his life, death, and resurrection, and who now sits at God’s right hand forever reigning as the one true King. Jesus perfectly succeeded at every point where humanity failed. He is the guarantor and mediator of the new and better covenant (Heb. 7:22, 9:15). Now people from every nation, tribe, and tongue who trust Jesus can become a part of God’s covenant family. In the new covenant, we receive the forgiveness of sins and God’s empowering Spirit to help us live lives full of self-giving love . Because of Jesus, we can live righteously and partner with him as he renews the world. And from Jesus he only asks us to BELIEVE! If not in himself, then in the works that he did! Friday we posted “Our Encounter with a Messenger” podcast. I hope you found that show worthy of “self examination” as you pondered our questions AND, worthy of sharing with your sphere of influence. While the encounter was (in my opinion) for Mark and I to ponder, we felt the “encounter” itself AND the actionable instruction to share this story of encouragement, faith and inspiration was worthy of sharing with you…SO THAT you could leverage it to encourage or plant seeds of hope with your friends and family. ALL of the Bible characters we referenced in last weeks show, from Mary to Joesph, to Moses, Lot, Gideon, John, Paul, etc, All of these now known characters, were unknown people when they received their message. What made them known names…relevant names worthy of remembering, comes down to one simple fact . They all acted on what they were told and accepted their instruction or message BY FAITH! Is it easier to write it off as an extremely bizarre string of coincidences OR is it easier to simply deploy one’s faith and ignite the possibilities? If you opt to write it off as strange coincidence… there’s nothing more to do , but more importantly… There is nothing more to gain ! If you give it credence and opt to deploy your faith … everything is possible…there is much to gain! We thought it was important to share this encounter with our listeners because it presents a great opportunity for all of us to check our Faith Meter. If you listen to us on a regular basis, Mark and I, try to bring biblical connections and insights into whatever the conversation of the day is. Today, we want to share with you what I believe was a TRUE and REAL encounter with a God sent Messenger! Several weeks ago, on July 20, Mark and I were attending our normal Saturday morning men’s Bible study. Midway through our meeting, a new face entered the room and took a seat. Our "guest" lives in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. He was told (urged) the week of July 8th to fly to the city we live in with no idea why! He had no friends or family here. No reason to visit…other than an urging to go. He had no idea why BEFORE he left AND had no idea why ONCE he arrived . WHO does that? WHO books a flight to travel 1,000 miles one way…with no clue who he’s to see or what his message is?! So we prayed for him, for God to reveal to him the purpose. He then joined in the prayer, and mentioned how committed our group was in seeking God and prayed for the “lions”! LIONS?! Now that “lion” reference meant something to Mark and I. Our podcast logo is the face of a lion and our show description references its “time to wake up the lions.” He left us with this simple instruction: “Study covenant relationships." So here’s an event that has deep spiritual connection, in 2024, similar to spiritual urging or instructions issued in the Bible. There are countless references in the Bible where normal people were visited by Messengers delivering a message. Mary was visited by a Messenger. Joseph…reassured by a Messenger. Gideon had lunch with a Messenger and tested the Messenger with several fleeces. I could go on and on. All of these now known characters, were just simple, unknown people … what made them known names…relevant names worthy of remembering and studying comes down to one simple fact. They all acted on what they were told and accepted their instruction or message BY FAITH! Which begs a host of questions. Do you write this off as a weird coincidence OR a spiritually appointed Messenger visitation? Join us as we take a look at who the Signers of our Declaration were, the costs they and their families paid, for us to live and continually pursue the Freedom they envisioned and sacrificed everything for. Show Notes: Fifty-six men from each of the original 13 colonies signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Nine of the signers were immigrants, two were brothers and two were cousins. One was an orphan. The average age of a signer was 45. Benjamin Franklin was the oldest delegate at 70. The youngest was Thomas Lynch Jr. of South Carolina at 27. Eighteen of the signers were merchants or businessmen, 14 were farmers, and four were doctors. Twenty-two were lawyers and nine were judges. Stephen Hopkins had been governor of Rhode Island. Forty-two signers had served in their colonial legislatures. Almost all were Protestants. Charles Carroll of Maryland was the lone Roman Catholic. Seventeen signers fought in the American Revolution. 1 E 154: Old Testament Prophecy Ezekiel 39 hits the headlines on May 19, 2024! What is up with that? 36:39
On May 19, 2024, the 2nd in command of Iran (the prince of Rosh) was flying in a formation of 3 helicopters over the mountains of NW Iran, which, at the time of Ezekiel, was part of Israel. In a fog, the chopper holding Ebrahim Raisi crashed into the mountains, all perished including his commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guard his Major General, his spiritual leader and 3 others. Only Raisi's chopper went down. Raisi "fell against the mountains" after Iran, for the first time, directly attacked Israel with more than 300 missiles and rockets (arrows), but Israel's Iron Dome "dashed them to the ground." Now go read Ezek 39:1-4a. If this isn't a prophesy fulfilled, it's certainly a shadow of one that will be. Additional Show References from a study by Theologian David Petersen. Reference Chapters and Characters of note: Ezekiel 38-39 - War of Gog and Magog: Are Gogs hoards from northern Russia? Is Gog Russia? Is Magog the country / territory of Iran? Iran is also known as Persia and Elam. Jeremiah 49:34-39 prophesied that Elam would be conquered by Babylon but rise again. But then Persia, under Cyrus the Great, took control of that area, and the Elamites and Medes became part of the Persian Empire. The Medo-Persian Empire ascended to power and conquered Babylon in 539 BC, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah 21:2 . This happened during the time of Daniel ( Daniel 5 ); in fact, Daniel later resided “in the province of Elam” in Persia ( Daniel 8:2 ). Persia is the setting for the book of Esther and the first part of Nehemiah. Ezekiel 38:5 specifically mentions Persia as an ally of Magog/Russia . Other nations included in this coalition will be Sudan, Turkey, Libya, and others. This vast army will come against Israel, who at that time will be “a peaceful and unsuspecting people” (verse 11). Ponder those last five words for a second. It’s a description of a point in time….specifically the last three words..”an unsuspecting people.” Which begs the question, considering we are referring to Israel… how much time must pass before Israel will be an “unsuspecting people?” We'll discuss this question and many others today. How was Titus to respond to people who acted in such ways? Paul commanded Titus to "rebuke" them. This word is from the Greek elegcho , which implies a sense of challenging, shaming, correcting, and exposing. The meaning is similar to "scold," but with an emphasis on teaching more than punishing . This command has to be understood in light of several points. First, the "rebuke" is targeted at Christians who hold false teachings. Paul is referring to believers, or those pretending to be believers, who are spreading false teachings. Second, they are to be corrected "sharply." The original Greek term can also mean "abruptly." This is not a topic suitable for gentleness—it is a controversy with potential to greatly damage the church. Titus is to directly and clearly rebuke those who taught Gentile Christians they had to follow Mosaic law in order to truly serve God. Third, the goal is to make others "sound in the faith." Titus was not attempting to scare people away from the church. The purpose of the rebuke was to help them live according to God's true, accurate, and healthy teachings for His people. Mark and Dave use a story from 1st Kings and the recent Crumley convictions, who were found guilty of crimes their son committed, to expand the conversation to what's wrong with our legal system, accountability and responsibility. SHOW NOTES: In the book of Kings, (1 Kings 3:16-28) there’s a story about two women claiming they are the real mother of an infant. Each women makes her case that the child belongs to them. The righteous Judge Solomon decides that to resolve the matter, the child should be cut in two, and each women would be given half the child. The REAL mother cry’s out NO…and surrendered her right to the child to save the child. By this action, the Judge determined that the REAL mother was the one that surrendered her right to half a child. Solomon Makes a Difficult Decision 23 until finally he said, “Both of you say this live baby is yours. 24 Someone bring me a sword.”A sword was brought, and Solomon ordered, 25 “Cut the baby in half! That way each of you can have part of him.” 26 “Please don't kill my son,” the baby's mother screamed. “Your Majesty, I love him very much, but give him to her. Just don't kill him.” The other woman shouted, “Go ahead and cut him in half. Then neither of us will have the baby.” 27 Solomon said, “Don't kill the baby.” Then he pointed to the first woman, “She is his real mother. Give the baby to her.” What do we learn from this example? That righteous judgement requires both crafty and creative discernment to get to the truth! Let’s Judge some News…shall we? The kid that shot up a school in Ohio was sentenced for 25 years last week. His parents were also sentenced 10-15 years each for involuntary manslaughter for not reading the tea leaves of their son’s mental health. The school didn’t call the cops to pick the son up after the parents decided not to take him home that day. The parents are not completely innocent in this case, but then neither is the school. The parents are sentenced because of lack of care…missing the signs given by their son. But what about the school? Does the counselor or Principal have a duty to report the kids behavior to the cops? How about these scenarios? A minor son decides to finish two bottles of vodka while the parents are fast asleep. He then decides to steal the car keys, still why the parents slept, and goes out and has an accident, killing four people in the other car. Should the parents be held liable? Consider the innocent kid that ends up witnessing a drag queen story hour at school. The school introduced this gender conflict to the child, against the will or knowledge of the parents. If the kid goes down that path, who is responsible for any adverse effects? The Drag Queen for confusing the kid to the point of suicide? How about the Librarian who invited the Drag Queen? Is she responsible? How about the School principal or school board? Maybe the Teachers Union? How about Planned Parenthood for creating the Sex Ed curriculum? The doctor prescribing blockers? The doctors performing life changing mutalations? How about the protestors in Michigan last week that were calling for the death of America and death of Israel outdoors and to a crowd of protestors. Why were these chants not considered dangerous and violent hate speech.? Why were they not arrested? If Romans 13 means we're not to be involved with government or evil in our culture (or evil government), then much of the bible can be ignored. Mark and Dave feel that's not right and they defend the biblical actions we must take if we are truly children of God. SHOW NOTES: No, we don't think Christian values should be "enforced" on everyone, but we DO think they should be supported, encouraged, and incentivized instead of being opposed. America now, may not be a beacon of light and worthy of emulating today, because evil men are in control, but our foundations definitely were and our principles based on natural and God-given rights STILL are special. And America's success is definitely based on our adherence to Christ, as all nations have been. To accept the Romans 13 doctrine, that we should be neutrally neutered using selected scriptures, would mean that most of the Power Scriptures in the New Testament would have to be thrown out and banned from further study. No more light bearing allowed! No more exposing darkness allowed! No more Truth-telling. What? So what do we do with these scriptures? “Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even EXPOSE THEM.” (Ephesians 5:11) “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works , which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” ( 2 Timothy 2:15) “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places . (Ephesians 6:12) Until the body of Christ, the Church, unities against these forces, until men and women that HAVE HEARD from God, find their resolve and voices, this country will struggle too reengage. Our battle is SPIRITUAL and it begins AT HOME. If you happen to believe Ephesians 6:12, then you must realize that it’s going to be a SPIRITUAL battle. And if it’s SPIRITUAL…we are going to NEED THE SPIRIT ! “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him ?” (Luke 11:13) Key phrase in this verse is: “… to THOSE WHO ASK HIM .” If we are NOT WILLING to dig deep enough to ASK for insight into the Holy Spirit, if we truly don’t care to learn what our gifts are or how the Holy Spirit can lead us to TRUE SUCCESS IN CHRIST….we are NOT serious about God or His call for our lives. We are neither hot or cold! We are lukewarm and we know what Scripture says about being lukewarm. “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” (Revelation 3:16) “ To DO righteousness and justice IS DESIRED by the Lord MORE than sacrifice. God has given us gifts and we will know people, who they are and their motivations, by their fruits. You mean, strawberries or pears? No, not that kind of fruit. Mark and Dave dive in to what these are and what they mean. SHOW NOTES: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.“ (Galatians 5:22-23) “ I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he BEARS MUCH FRUIT , for apart from Me you can do nothing .” (John 15:5) “You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you , that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall as k of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” (John 15:16) “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (Romans 12:12) “One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed .” (Proverbs 19:17) “ He will keep him in perfect PEACE, WHOSE MIND is stayed on you ; because he TRUST in you.” (Isaiah 26:3) While it should be obvious, these attributes or personality characteristics can only be truly manifested if one has accepted the love of Christ. Without doing so, it would be difficult to impossible to imitate or reproduce the fruit of the Spirit. Personally, I think a lot of folks display these attributes most of the time, even non-church goers. I think the distinction is this: do we remain faithful to show love to those that are currently persecuting us; do we project true joy in the midst of a storm; are we patient in all situations or only when it’s convenient? ”that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge , that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,“ Ephesians 3:16-20 ” And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we begin a wonderful journey. The details of that journey depend on you, your gifts, and your calling. No two journeys are the same. But Mark and Dave will help you get started or maybe break out of the comfortable rut you may find yourself in. SHOW NOTES: For millennia, church goers have been taught that the only message of importance , is the message of Salvation . “Get in before it’s too late!” “Admit you are a sinner and be saved”. “Believe and you’ll enjoy eternal life with Christ!” But to what end? Is the message of Salvation an invitation to join the air conditioned country club, sit back and do nothing? Or is it a message of “recruitment” and if so, recruitment for what? ”for He says, “At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation“. Sounds like “soon” doesn’t it? (2 Corinthians 6:2) ”Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.“ (1 Chronicles 16:23). Is that “post salvation” instruction for what to do? How about Hebrews 3:13 “encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.“ Psalms 71:15 ”My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your salvation all day long; ( this “telling” IS AN ACTION!…it is “work” and it is fraught with risk and persecution). ” Lead me in Your truth and teach me, (these eight words make an awesome daily prayer) For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.“ (Psalms 25:5) Why is there “leading”, “truth sharing”, and “teaching” POST SALVATION? Which is why I continue to ask the question…Is there more to following Christ than just being “saved?” ”For I am not ashamed of the gospel, (good news) for IT (the good news), IS THE POWER of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.“ (Romans 1:16) ”For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen , so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.“ (2 Timothy 2:10) What do you do with Salvation? ”for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses , resulting in salvation.“ (Romans 10:10) Does this verse mean that there’s work/ action to perform to seal / secure salvation? ”So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling ;" (Philippians 2:12) ”But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. “ ( what trouble? You mean we’ll still have “trouble” after we are saved?) (Psalms 37:39) ”for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13) ”All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;“ (2 Timothy 3:16) ”For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.“ (there is “work” to be done) ( Mark 8:35) ”For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it .“ (Luke 9:24) ”For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. “ (Matthew 16:25) Send us a text…
Mark and Dave discuss a 2,000 year old mystery that Paul wrote about to the Thessalonians. He mentions someone who restrains evil until he is taken out of the way. Who are the possible candidates for this restrainer? SHOW NOTES: “Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4) Verse 6-7: And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains WILL DO SO until he is taken out of the way. So who or what is the Restrainer? Better yet….who would or could be the candidates first? Institutional Church Governance? The Government? The Body of Christ? The Holy Ghost? Paul told the Thessalonians believers that a Force “withholdeth” the antichrist from being revealed. If that’s true, which of the forces mentioned earlier are capable of doing this? I doubt the Institutional Church Governance is capable of that. The Government is definitely not qualified, as they are the workmanship of the antichrist…full of corruption, lies, grumblers, arrogant players, etc. So they can’t possibly be the FORCE for GOOD. The Body of Christ…simply isn’t up to the task as I highlighted in Episode 123 Put me In Coach. I personally think God empowered us to play a more significant role…but we have fallen way short in my opinion. Although the Greek doesn’t specifically state the identity of the restraining Force in this verse, it seems to suggest that Paul is referring to the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. Think of it — what if the power of the Spirit of God was suddenly withdrawn or removed from the earth? It would be only a brief matter of time before the devil quickly consummated his dream of world domination. That’s why I think the Holy Spirit is the Great Restrainer, and He is holding back this evil from coming to pass in the world today. The King James Version uses the word “withholdeth” to describe this restraining work of the Spirit. In Greek, it is the word katecho and carries the idea of holding something down or suppressing something. It is clear that this is an evil so horrendous that it must be held down, held back, or suppressed lest it be loosed to release a wide range of wicked effects. The supernatural Force Paul refers to is stalling, delaying, and postponing the evil that is craving to be fully released and set into operation. Peter tells us why the Spirit of God is stalling, delaying, and postponing this dreadful time at the end of the age. In Second Peter 3:9, he says that God is “…not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” God is holding back the ultimate day of evil to give unbelievers more time to come to Him in repentance. One of the most popular topics in the Bible is end times, and the disciples ask Jesus, "When will this be?" In the series, Chosen, Jesus replies, "Soon." Mark and Dave dive into what this means. SHOW NOTES: Scholars have identified 1,845 references in the Old Testament alone, referencing Christs second coming. In fact, references to Christs second coming outnumbers references to his first coming by a factor of eight to one (according to a study and podcast article by David Jeremiah). In the 260 chapters of the New Testament, there are 318 references to the second advent of Christ—an amazing 1 out of every 30 verses. Twenty-three of the 27 New Testament books refer to this great event. For every prophecy in the Bible concerning Christ’s first advent, there are 8 which look forward to His second! The second coming will be a very public event. Everybody will see Him. The rapture of the church may be an event that is quite unseen by the world. Although the Bible never calls it a secret rapture because it is not a secret at least to Christians, it will take place very quickly. First Corinthians 15:52 speaks of the rapture as taking place “in the twinkling of an eye.” The world possibly will only be dimly aware that something has happened until it is all over. 2 Peter 3:3-10, 13-15 ”Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.” “But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise , as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” “ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.” “But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. BUT to reduce the message to a whinny spineless plea for Jesus to come and fix everything is SAD! Think about it from Jesus’ point of view. He’s already come …over the ages…he has been engaging and answering prayers for thousands of years, and STILL His people can’t, won’t or don’t understand that HE has ALREADY given US the POWER and AUTHORITY to SPEAK UP, STAND UP, FIGHT, FORM A LINE and HOLD it for RIGHTEOUS SAKE!! To suggest that only His second return can fix our broken lives is to suggest that there in NO POWER in the COMFORTER he sent to us in Acts…the Holy Spirit… that His spilt blood Has no power! I thought there was POWER IN THE BLOOD!! My Bible says that the SAME SPIRIT that raised Christ from the dead, dwells in me (Roman’s 8:11). That means all believers have RESURRECTION POWER living in them. Question. Why is it we don’t know how to deploy it. Worse yet, WHY don’t we believe that we’ve been given this power? How about these scriptures? Are they worthless words of encouragement or instructions that we simply can’t wrap our minds around … because we are a weak knee’d faithless group on Sunday believers interested only in praying for what we want instead of what we NEED! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13) It doesn’t say some people, only strong people…it says “ I can do all things …” If Christ be for me, who can be against me. (Rom 8:31) Nothing is impossible to God. (Luke 1:37) Let us approach the throne of grace with CONFIDENCE , so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in times of trouble (Heb 4:16) It doesn’t say approach the throne of grace whining like a baby or begging like a dog. It says WITH CONFIDENCE!!! So that… And this IS the confidence that we HAVE in Him, that WHATEVER we ask according to his will, we know that he hears us , and knowing that he hears us in what we ask, we know we have the very petition of our heart. (1John 5:14-16) Said differently, do we really want god to come OR do we want god to anoint us and empower us to do what he's called us to do and be ....waymakers, salt shakers...faithful accountable disciples willing to die on the line for HIS namesake?! Think about this...the song says we've been waiting so long for him to turn this around...maybe he's been waiting for his church...the enlightened believers to get off their Ass and fight for righteousness.... we don't need god to return...we need millions of believers to engage in FEVERENT PRAYER…APPROACH THE THRONE ROOM OF HEAVEN and ENGAGE in EPHESIANS 6:10-18 SPIRITUAL WARFARE !! In this 4th installment on the 2024 Wars, Mark and Dave look at wars in the bible. Why is there so much war in the Old Testament? How does God see war? Then Mark ends with his take on whether the current Israeli/Hamas war is in the bible. SHOW NOTES: A biblical concordance offers over 400 references to war . Break these down, and they include examples of military conflict and of interpersonal conflict. Scripture tells us that there is “a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace” ( Ecclesiastes 3:8 ). Battles were planned throughout the ages, according to God’s appointed time and purpose. The Lord describes his people as “my hammer and weapon of war: with you I break nations in pieces; with you I destroy kingdoms ” ( Jeremiah 51:20 ). (Ancient Babylon is todays Iraq). Jesus warned that his return will be preceded by “wars and rumors of wars” ( Matthew 24:6 ). According to Billy Graham , “The Bible certainly urges us to pray for peace and support those who work for peace. [...] But the Bible also warns us that we will never bring about a complete end to wars and conflicts.” Daniel 9:26 - .even to the end of time there will be wars. While some might say it was mercy, which motivated the Israelites to spare lives where the Lord had told them to spare none, the Christian knows that God has a purpose for every command he gives. He is never gratuitous, never delighting over bloodshed. The Almighty hates “hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil” ( Proverbs 6:17-18 ). The Hamas mission is NOT to retake land they believe is theirs, but to USHER IN the return of their prophet, Muhammad and the 12th Iman. I believe the Covid Bio-Experiment had much to do with it. Not only did we lose our sense of smell and taste during the bio-pandemic, we lost our sense of reason, our eye sight and our voices. The last in our New Believers “Next Steps” series, Mark and Dave answer the popular question, "If God is good, why is there suffering and why do bad things happen?" Then they share which stories are their favorites in the bible. If there are any other questions you would like us to tackle, email us at odc22@proton.me - you can be sure other people have the same question. SHOW NOTES: If God is so good, why do bad things happen? The easy, cop out answer, that most people give as an answer: “Because Sin still exists.” That’s True, but that answer alone doesn’t dispense a lot of hope or action tasks associated with it. In Matthew 5:45 , as part of the Sermon on the Mount , Jesus says this about God the Father: “He makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (ESV). I’ve always thought that scripture meant that simply stated, “Stuff Happens”…it rains (good things and bad things) come to both the just and unjust. But in researching this for today’s show I came across a different perspective. In the verses immediately prior to verse 45, Jesus notes a popular sentiment and then gives a countercultural command: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (verses 43–44). Then, in the first half of verse 45, Jesus gives the rationale behind the command: “ That you may be children of your Father in heaven.” The Contemporary English Version brings out this meaning of Matthew 5:45 : “Then you will be acting like your Father in heaven.” To the extent that a person exhibits a certain characteristic of God, to that extent he will be considered a child of God. So, how does God love His enemies? There are a number of ways, but in Matthew 5:45 Jesus gives two practical examples. “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” In that agrarian society, good weather was all-important. There are righteous farmers (who would be considered God’s friends) and unrighteous farmers (those who would be considered God’s enemies). Regardless of the farmer’s disposition toward God, God gives sunshine and rain to all the farmers in equal portion. When God gives good sunshine and good rain to an evil farmer, it’s an example of God loving His enemies. God makes no distinction between the evil and the righteous in this instance—He gives good gifts to both of them. (Rms 8:28) A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord DELIVERS HIM FROM THEM ALL (Ps 34:19) DELIGHT YOURSELF in the Lord, and HE WILL GIVE YOU the DESIRES of YOUR HEART (Ps 37:4) [ FEAR NOT ] Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today... the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:13-14. (WATCH IN AMAZEMENT)!!! He has not given you a spirit of fear , but of POWER, LOVE and SOUND MIND. (2 Tim 1:7) He will keep him in perfect peace, WHOSE MIND is stayed on you ; because he TRUST in you. (Is 26:3) Be strong and courageous ! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you , WHEREVER you go! (Joshua 1:9) I WILL instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you (Ps 32:8) “ Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?” (1 Peter 3:13) No evil will befall you, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give his angels charge over you , to keep you in all your ways. (Ps 91:10-12) “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world .” (1 John 4:4) [ STRENGTH & CONFIDENCE ] I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13) If Christ be for me, who can be against me. (Rom 8:31) The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, dwells in me . (Romans 8:11) Let us approach the throne of grace with CONFIDENCE , so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in times of trouble (Heb 4:16) And this IS the confidence that we HAVE in Him, that WHATEVER we ask according to his will, we know that he hears us , and knowing that he hears us in what we ask, we know we have the very petition of our heart. (1John 5:14-16) [ FAITH ] FAITH IS the substance of things hoped for. It is the evidence of things unseen (Heb 11:1) But without faith, it is impossible to please Him: for he that comes to God MUST BELIEVE that He IS, AND that He IS a REWARDER of them that DILIGENTLY SEEK him. ( Heb 11:6) We WALK BY FAITH and NOT BY SIGHT (2 Cor.5:7) [ JOY, PEACE & ASSURANCES ] Call upon me in the day of trouble: I WILL deliver you , and you will glorify me. (Ps 50:15) Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Rom 12:12) Now the God of HOPE FILL YOU with all JOY AND PEACE in believing, that you may ABOUND in HOPE, through the POWER of the Holy Ghost. It's the parents job to raise responsible, self sustaining, functioning adults.
