NGFP Local Lunch

Dear Friends In the space of recording this podcast with Lynn Taylor, one of the founders of community growing in Nottingham and a font of local food system knowledge, we have emerged out of our cosy chrysalis blinking into the light of a new reality. Have a listen to Lynn, her gentle voice and wisdom about community will soothe you. Please have listen to the back catalogue - so many interesting people, so many food heroes who will give you hope. We need to massively ramp up food growing and social eating spaces - there is a glorious necklace of community gardens - and a farm - across the city but we need to not only expand these important gathering and teaching spaces but to revalue available land and get growing at scale. We are trying to work out how to do podcasts in social isolation - we will have a test run and hopefully will resume weekly broadcasts then! With love Penney and Shona --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ngfplocallunch/message…

NGFP Local Lunch

Hello and welcome to our weekly NGFP Local Lunch podcast trailer where we provide you, our lovely listeners with everything you need to know about Nottingham’s local food heroes and how you can get more involved in our vibrant local food scene! Local lunch is brought to you by me Shona Munro and me Penney Poyzer of Nottingham Good Food Partnership the go to organisation for sustainable food in our fair city. This week our guest is Lynn Taylor. We have both known Lynn for many years and her knowledge of the local food growing scene is un-paralled - and she knows everyone! Lynn is a highly respected community co-ordinator who has worked with a broad spectrum of communities across the city including Asian women, the Vietnamese community and the long established Polish community to name just a few. Very early on in her career she realised that to draw people together you had to be in the heart of those communities and that by offering good food , you can build relationships and then the work flows from there - it's all about trust. We will hear from Lynn about why food has been at the heart of her work and learn about her long relationship with St Ann’s allotments, Social Farms and Gardens and how so much of her work has enabled the network of community gardens to bloom and expand around the city. This network is known as the Nottingham Growing Network which Lynn coordinates, has grown to 24 organisations all of which are building social and natural capacity for the communities in which they flourish. It is going to be a fascinating programme and we very much look forward to introducing Lynn to you. So tune in this Friday at 1.30pm.
