Amy B. Chesler, Author, award-winning blogger and actress shares with us her journey of healing and success after her mother’s death.
Amy, has always had a passion for literature and film but it wasn’t until she experienced the unthinkable and survived domestic violence that she began to peruse her passions professionally. In an effort to heal from her mother’s death, Amy began to blog about her experience which ultimately snowballed her into a life of awards, appearances and contributions to many popular publications. She released her first solo book in 2016 which can still be purchased on Amazon, A Man and His Books.
In this weeks episode, Amy dives into her personal experience with domestic violence and shares with us details of her abuse. We learn how the toxic cycle came to an end when the person closest to her was murdered. Years of abuse ended one chilling day when her brother ended their mother’s life over a small argument in the kitchen. Her life came to a screeching halt as she was forced to deal with her mother’s death, her burial among other natural things and charging her sibling with the death of their parent. She also talks about the ongoing struggles with the justice system and the battle to keep her brother behind bars.
Amy has made it her mission to share her story so others can learn from her experience and feel validated in their own. She has already touched so many because of her willingness to be open about her experiences, in that creating awareness to the risk of being involved in violent relationships.
