Nobel Prize Winner, Katalin Karikó's story continues to be amazing and inspiring. Faced with doubt, dismissal, and demotion, Dr. Karikó's unwavering desire, discipline, and determination to make her dream a reality turned her life around and arguably saved the world--how amazing is that!!! In celebration of Women's History Month, Dr. Suite pays tribute to Dr. Karikó's extraordinary tenacity of purpose and scientific accomplishments. Note: This podcast first aired in 2021 before she won the Nobel Prize. Since then she has continued to excel. In 2023, Karikó was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for her research into messenger RNA. She was named in the 2024 Time 100 Influential People in Health. In December 2024, Karikó was included on the BBC 's 100 Women list. Karikó's autobiography was published by Crown Publishing Group on 10 October 2023, just days after she won the Nobel Prize. It is titled Breaking Through: My Life in Science .
