In today’s episode, we’re talking with Tuve Floden, Scholar, Middle Eastern Studies and Founder of the Blog “Other Things.” Tuve is interviewed by Matthew Ismail, a Conference Director and Editor in Chief of the Charleston Briefings.

Tuve Floden is an independent scholar of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies with a PhD in Islamic Studies from Georgetown University. Tuve and Matthew discuss the work of an independent scholar and the differences between communicating with the public via scholarly articles and books and communicating via a blog and video. Tuve is able to access most of his resources via Google and limited guest visits to university libraries, but he finds that the abundance of open access resources is a boon to an independent scholar.
