In this episode, Candra sits down with Rachel, a Multiple Sclerosis Warrior who recognized the need for a supportive community when she was first diagnosed. In response, she founded HERillestlife, Inc., a safe space dedicated to empowering black female chronic illness warriors to live their best lives. HERillestlife provides education on various health topics, offers resources for navigating the healthcare system, encourages self-advocacy, and amplifies women's voices with chronic illnesses. Rachel's personal battles with multiple health conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis, inspired her mission to help others who are searching for representation and support. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rachel now resides in Atlanta, where she has thrived for the past eight years. She is a compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. As a single womanpreneur, Rachel balances her professional role as a Claims Examiner, assisting individuals with Short Term Disability and FMLA processes. Her empathetic approach fosters understanding and support during vulnerable times. Recently, Rachel became an MS Ambassador and MS Support Group Leader for the National MS Society, furthering her commitment to making a positive impact. She leads a self-help group for black women living with Multiple Sclerosis. The group is called “The Soulful Sunday Sesh: MS Gets On My Nerves, But I Keep Smyelin.” The group is called “The Soulful Sunday Sesh: MS Gets On My Nerves, But I Keep Smyelin.” It meets every 3rd Sunday of the month at 3:33 PM (Eastern Standard Time).
