Welcome to Witchy Woman History! Yes, this is a spin off of my first podcast, Witchy Woman Podcast! This is a podcast for those who want to know more about the people the patriarchy has vilified, pushed down, made an scapegoat, or silenced in order to create an illusion of a male dominated world.
I wanted my first episode to be about Lilith and one of, what I think, is the first documented examples of the patriarchy vilifying a woman to gain power over others. I was way down the rabbit hole when I realized that it wasn’t just about Lilith in that whole mess, it was also about the pitting of women against each other to color the entire matriarchy as sinful or evil. It was creating a narrative that there are two types of women; evil whores and the innocent obedient ones. And in both types of women, the patriarchy says, in them resides evil and rebellion because it is, after all, just the nature of females. So I’ll tell you the stories of Lilith but I have to include Eve, as she was just as much the victim and target as Lilith.
