The popular saying, "it takes two to tango" is such that every human must perfectly understand. Most times the disappointments people face in their relationships and association with others is as a result of over-expectation and under-investment. We've wrongly ascribed infallibility to others and very selfishly believed that they should always come good for us, particularly when we believe they already gave us their words. What a terrible sense of entitlement! Unfortunately, if the roles were switched, we expect that folks should cut us some slacks when we fall short of expectations...
