Details of Freeway Killer: Victims, Sex Involved, Killing Methods & Why: Without Remorse: In an eight minute segment from the Thunderstruck Radio Show Sancho Jones asks Vonda Pelto, who dealt with a number of serial killers for over 3 1/2 years from 1978-84 at LA Men's County Jail, for all the details about the Freeway Killer William Bonin, and he gest them in graphic details for Vonda had many frank conversations with Bonin about his killing methods, the boys he like to have sex with and murder, the reason he did it and where the real thrill of this activity came from. First of all he like young, white males between the ages of 12 to 19. He like them slender and it seems the killing aspect came about, in a way, by accident. At some point in the process he got the most enjoyment from killing the boys rather than the sex with them; that power over life and death really felt awesome to William Bonin and by accounts he tortured, raped and murdered at least 21 young boys. Bonin's accomplices, such as Vernon Butts, brought other methods of killing but, according to Vonda Pelto, Ph.D., author of Without Remorse: The Story of the Woman Who Kept Los Angeles' Serial Killers Alive, Bonin preferred to strangle his victims. In fact he found other aspects such as torture and sex and nothing compared to the act of strangling the young boys and looking in their eyes. Vonda was with him, at the cell block at Los Angeles Men's Central Jail, when he got word he was going to be executed for killing 10 boys. She asked him how he felt and Bonin, who was raised a Catholic, still held out hope of going to Heaven if he confessed his crimes to God. Vonda found this sheer lunacy but not totally surprising. Vonda went into the components she believes most if not all serial killers have in common; it is partially genetic, some sort of front lobe injury where the impulse is located, an obsessive compulsive disorder and an abusive childhood, Bonin had all these and thus Vonda cites him as the poster for serial killer personalities.
