Bigfoot also known as Sasquatch, has a long history of sightings in North America and is deeply embedded in the stories of the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Tales of wild, bipedal creatures also exist throughout the world with similar, simian entities being reported in many regions; such as the Yeti in Asia who is said to roam the Himalayan Mountain Region (sometimes known as the Abominable Snowman), the Yeren of the mountainess regions of China, the Yowie from Aboriginal folklore that haunts the Australian outback, the Hibagon who stalks Mount Hiba in the Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan, the Almas of the mountain regions of central Asia and the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia and the Skunk Ape that inhabits the forests and swamps of the Southeastern United States, most notably Florida.
