The Reformist Pipeline is finally here with their very first mini-series with a focus on SPECIAL EDUCATION! This episode highlights some important events in Special Education History. These are very important to know and understand as we continue to enlighten you around the subject throughout the duration of our mini-series.

Call to Action

During this episode we highlighted a few important resources that we would like for you to familiarize yourself with to deepen your understanding of where we started in regards to rights for people with disabilities. We hope this will help our listeners understand how far we have come as a nation, but also be aware of how much farther we have to go.

This week's call to action is for you to take a deeper dive in to the resources we touched on throughout the episode.

  • Check out the The National Disability Rights Network website: It's a great place to find more stories about Brad Lomax and Black Disability Rights.
  • Research "The Willowbrook institution" on Youtube: This is where children with disabilities were sent to receive an “education” but actually weren’t equitably given the same opportunity as their traditionally developing peers. There are plenty of videos to browse through!
  • Netflix is another great resource to watch films such as "Crip Camp", which will give you more information on how the disability rights movement began.
