#254 Cheraleigh Van Zanten: Miss Universe Great Britain Finalist

Cheraleigh Van Zanten was born in Johannesburg but has spent the last 21 years in England. She is the proud mother of a vibrant 5-year-old boy named Abel. In addition to being a devoted parent, Cheraleigh is also a successful businesswoman, owning a skin clinic known as @theskinlabnorwich.

Her compassion extends beyond her family and business. Every week, she volunteers for a local charity to help the community gain access to affordable food. Over her adult years, she has managed to raise over £10,000 for various charities.

From the age of 16, Cheraleigh was an active participant in pageantry. However, after the birth of her son, she was disheartened to find that she could no longer compete. Questioning why motherhood should limit her ability to represent her country, she reached out to various pageant systems, advocating for the inclusion of mothers in competitions. While she humbly acknowledges that her efforts may not have directly led to the rule changes in Miss Universe, the shift brought her immense joy. It signified a moment of inclusion for women with children in pageantry.

Making history, Cheraleigh became one of the first two contestants to enter Miss Universe GB as a mother. But her advocacy doesn't stop there. She is also a strong campaigner against domestic violence, having herself been a victim. Through her harrowing experiences and interactions with the legal system, she's found the strength to support others facing similar situations. Currently, she collaborates with a local domestic violence charity and is furthering her ability to provide assistance by studying a course in understanding domestic abuse. She uses her platform and experiences to help women all across her county.
