The Mincing Rascals this week are John Williams of WGN Radio, Eric Zorn, Publisher of The Picayune Sentinel, Austin Berg of the Illinois Policy Institute, Brandon Pope, host of ‘On the Block‘ on WCIU, and Cate Plys, former staff writer at the Chicago Reader and political op-ed columnist at the Sun-Times and Tribune. The Rascals start the show discussing the Bring Chicago Home real estate transfer tax referendum apparently being rejected by Chicago voters. The Rascals break down why the referendum failed. Was this a referendum on the Johnson administration’s leadership? What about the the Cook County State’s Attorney race? Did anything else stand out to the Rascals? Next, the Rascals talk about Grant Park and how many days the park will be closed this summer due to special events. How do the Rascals feel about the public park being shut down for 73 days? And finally, former president Donald Trump used the term “bloodbath” when talking about the auto industry at a speaking event over the weekend. Does this ‘bloodbath’ comment need more context? Or was Trump talking about something more nefarious?
