Overview:
The power of placebos and the effect it has on people are explored. In short, it has a massive impact on people's recovery and healing. The medication – a placebo in this instance – provides improvement and healing to those in the experiment. In the experiment, there are two groups. One group receives the 'actual medicine', and the other gets a placebo. They don't know if it is a placebo, or is it real. However, to my surprise nobody receives real medicine in the experiment – they all receive placebos. The medication given is powerless and harmless. Completely neutral - as if you are taking tablets made of white odourless powder. All the people in the experiment are told that the medicine is powerful and they can expect an impact. Surprisingly, after taking the medication, people reported feeling better. The 'medication' had an effect. Very interesting! More about the experiment...
