We’re back! Just in time for a Thursday Night craptacular at Mr. McGoos Pub in the Bronx on 2/16, which will feature stand up from Rada and Geoffrey Krawczyk from episode 15.
We’re joined by Fernando, a Mr. McGoos regular and teacher in the NYC school system, and he’s got some harrowing stories at (01:01:45). But before that, we get into how badass uptown Bronx standup shows can be, Rada and Fernando have stories about being profiled by ICE agents (03:36 and 24:50), there are Crips in Denmark yal! (04:04), we get into some foody shit (08:25), and then we tell gang stories from our youth. It gets deep when we talk about racism, lies white people believe (17:15), how to fight back using direct action, why weekend rallies suck, and divestment (20:38), a bunch of Tio Juans freaked out when Sergio suggested whistleblowing and want to charge him with treason (33:45) (by the way, those whistleblowing links are below in the plugs), gratuitous discussion on Israel and Palestine (43:50)!! (#fuckyoupayme), Sergio explains why he wrote “fear is a white people emotion” at his sign at the JFK Muslim Ban protest (52:50) and challenges white people to rediscover their roots, Sergio’s surprise Syrian-Jewish heritage and how Hebrew looks like Alien hieroglyphs at (59:50)….and then finally back to High School horror stories at (01:01:45) which segues into the nightmare of pubic education and the school to prison pipeline (01:07:00), Fernando’s first year of teaching (01:11:00), the shelter system and ACS (child protective services) (1:18:00), the problem with education organizing and the false trinity of parents, teachers unions and administrators (1:24:30), and then Radhames gets Biblical about the war on minds (1:29:15) before we bring it back to how awesome the standup show show Mr. McGoos is gonna be!
