What‘s it really like to become a Christian? The Christian Alien discusses the first impressions of Christian culture from a newly born-again believer. A self-described ”COVID Christian,” writer Trina Eaton discusses what faith without church looks like and grapples with the disconnect between her pandemic-private, scripture-focused worship and the wider messaging of mainstream American Protestant Christianity. From genuine confusion (”Why don‘t Christians know anything about Jews?”) to DIY devotional practices to tough love, gut-check calls for a renewed focus on the teachings of Jesus within the Body of Christ, The Christian Alien uses humor, self-deprecation, and persuasive Bible-based arguments to offer the Evangelical community an outsider‘s perspective -- from the inside. ”I started the podcast because I was on this incredible spiritual walk and had no one to talk to about it. I didn‘t know any Christians, and churches were closed, so I had all the questions and no one to ask. The show exists at the nexus of ‘I‘m new here, I‘m not sure what‘s happening‘ and ‘...this doesn‘t look like what He said to do.‘ There‘s always that tension in the show of my personal longing for fellowship and what I feel is my obligation to God to point out things that are important but difficult to see from the inside.” -- Trina Eaton
