I had a great time chatting with my guest, Dan Berry, in this episode. In Part I, we learn how Dan became a cartoonist and discuss how criticism is beneficial when used for good, the importance of storytelling (and its structure) and the need for a healthy work/life balance. I cannot wait to share Part II. Dan is a cartoonist, podcaster and educator from Shrewsbury in the UK. He is the host of the podcast Make It Then Tell Everybody, which has been running since 2012 and has over 200 episodes featuring interviews with other comic artists and illustrators about how they do what they do. He has been making comics since the late 2000s and has a new book out soon called Rivers, a follow-up with writer David Gaffney to the book The Three Rooms In Valerie’s Head, both available from Top Shelf Comix. He is a comics educator, and for eleven years ran a degree in comics in North Wales, UK. He now gives workshops and short courses alongside his freelance work. Something REALLY COOL that Dan is currently offering is ONLINE MENTORING. You can learn more here. https://www.patreon.com/makethentell You can contact Dan and buy his books, pens and original art at https://www.thingsbydan.co.uk
