Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang joins the show to talk about earning his first Oscar nomination, and the process behind writing the nominated song "Simple Song #3" for the movie Youth. Lang details the journey he and director Paolo Sorrentino took to deliver the song, and how a Google search helped him find the lyrics he needed to tell the song's story. You'll also hear the other nominated songs, written and performed by superstar pop singers Sam Smith, Lady Gaga, and The Weeknd, as well as a message song about dying marine wildlife by the first transgender person to receive an Original Song Oscar nomination.
