By using the walls and streets as canvas, SHINE transforms our shared spaces into a world-class outdoor gallery featuring top contemporary local, national, and international artists. There have been 125+ artists from 17 different countries and 168 new murals created since 2015 revitalizing neighborhoods, inspiring dialogue and uniting communities. To date, close to 60 murals have been lost due to development.
The SHINE® Mural Festival is the first in the world to have an accessible audio tour and the technology to instantly connect mural viewers to online content via PixelStix. This interactive technology is now being used by other mural organizations nationwide. You can walk or take a bike tour Saturdays from Florida Craft Art or a Star Trolley Tour and with a pixel stick, you can double the art experience.
Local, national and international artists have been selected over the years, some unknown who became famous. Priebe will be interviewing several local artists, such as The Vitale Brothers, on RadioStPete.com in advance of the October Festival.
