The guilt offering is a ritual that draws our attention to the fact that there is no innocent sin. All sin affects our vertical relationship with God and also our horizontal relationships with our neighbors. It is an act of restitution (compensating for the damage we've done). Jesus is a guilty offering on behalf of his people is a satisfactory compensation.
