Don Waisanen is a professor of strategic and leadership communication in the Baruch College, City University of New York Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. All of his research, teaching, and consulting projects seek to understand how communication works to promote or hinder democracy. Don is the author of Improv for Democracy and Leadership Standpoints. He is the co-author of Innovation Soup: A Recipe for Organizational Success. Listen to Part One with Don here.
Don and Abbie continue their conversation about third culture building, intrapersonal communication, and internal family systems. Abbie explores the difference between communication skills and a communication perspective using the game Stratego as a metaphor. Abbie and Don discuss zooming out and zooming in, negotiating with ourselves, and improvisational games. Finally, Abbie and Don try out some improv games and consider what we can learn about ourselves doing these activities.
