In this homily given on Sunday July 9, 2023, Fr Mathias preaches on Jesus' invitation to us, "Come to me who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest." (Mt 11:28). When we're exhausted, overwhelmed or even discouraged in the Christian life we all the more need to come to Jesus for rest. Child-like humility is the key to coming to Jesus in prayer. Father offers a simple three step process of coming to Jesus for rest:
1) Believe Jesus wants to give you rest
2) Honestly share with him about what's on your heart
3) Allow him to love you in your pain
Father offers a couple of examples of what this simple process looks like in his own struggles. He ends his homily inviting everyone to "come to Jesus" in Holy Communion so Jesus can give us the rest we need.
