The podcast is dedicated to exploring the future of infrastructure in the South West with a view to achieving net zero by 2050. This episode delves into the infrastructure needs and implementation required to achieve these ambitious targets.

Presenter Chris Ackland is joined by industry experts from across the region: David Carter, Deputy Director of Economic and Community Infrastructure and Commissioning at Somerset County Council; Miranda Housden, ICE South West Director and Secretary of the South West Infrastructure Partnership; Colin Taylor, Emeritus Professor of Earthquake Engineering at the University of Bristol and ICE Policy Fellow for Subnational Decarbonisation; and Tom Whitmore, Managing Director at Geomarine in Guernsey.

Guests discuss the importance of understanding the context in which infrastructure projects are delivered and the need to enable change and break down barriers to progress. They also share their vision of what infrastructure will look like in 2050 and the possibilities of using the South West as a “living laboratory” to study how infrastructure works and how people use it.

From the South West Infrastructure Partnership, supported by ICE South West.

Produced by Fresh Air Studios, Podcast Studios in the South West.
