Are you watching the Olympics? Today, we're diving into four secrets of Olympians that I've discovered as a Team USA doctor. Treating professional athletes and celebrities has given me a front-row seat to see what makes these athletes successful.

First up, Olympians always have a team around them.

They’re not doing it alone. They have a team supporting, motivating, and caring for them. Do you think they want to wake up and train daily, especially with the Olympics only once every four years? No way! They need people to push them, call them out, and elevate them. This support system is crucial for their success.

Next, the Olympians recover hard.

People often think they go hard daily, but that's a misconception. Recovery is essential to catapult to the next level. It allows their brains and muscles to reprogram and make new tricks or speeds feel normal. Recovery prevents injuries and ensures everything is activating correctly. Recovery is a massive part of their routine, from cold plunges to Epsom salt baths and even just vegging out.

The third secret is all about brain work and stress management.

Focusing on mental health is critical. Stress, both good and bad, affects the body and mind. Managing this stress is key. Look at Simone Biles, who openly talks about her mental health struggles. Balancing excitement and relaxation, working on mental health, and managing stress are vital components of an Olympian’s training. Starting your day with five things you’re grateful for is a simple yet effective way to incorporate this into your life.

Lastly, Olympians have bad days just like everyone else.

They deal with sickness, personal losses, and everyday annoyances. The difference is how they handle these setbacks. Turning tough moments into growth opportunities is what sets successful people apart. When things aren’t going your way, it’s a chance to grow and learn. Remember, everyone has bad days, but it’s about extending grace to yourself and your team and pushing through the discomfort.

I’m spilling the secrets and more insights from my experiences with Team USA. These lessons aren’t just for athletes; they can be applied to anyone’s life. So, take these secrets and see how you can incorporate them into your routine. Let me know your thoughts and share your experiences.

Together, we can all strive for greatness, just like the Olympians.
