Show #498 - Is the Law of God Special?
Description
In this episode we, we begin by looking at a comment on X that suggests John 10:29-30, where Yeshua is in the temple during Hanukkah, is not referring to the “Hanukkah” we celebrate and remember today, but is talking about the dedication of the temple in Ezra 6. While such a debate is sometimes brought up, the evidence is simply not there to continue to believe such a view. Historically, the Jews and Israel celebrated the dedication of the temple after the Maccabean revolt. This historical event also sheds light on some of the context in the Apostolic Scriptures (New Testament) and why some mainstream Christian beliefs don’t take this historical event into account.
We then move to a conversation about the law of God. Psalm 1 tells us to meditate on the law of God day and night. Is this Psalm referring to the whole 66 book canon or is it referring to the first five books specifically? This leads to a question that many ask, is the Torah more important than the rest of Scripture, or is all of the 66 book canon on the same level as God’s Word?
