In this week’s interview on RLA Radio, host Dennis Tubbergen spoke with Murray Gunn, a lead researcher for Elliott Wave International. Gunn discussed the Elliott Wave theory, which uses market patterns to predict future trends. He suggested that current indicators point to a significant drop in the World Stock Market index. Gunn also discussed the science of socionomics, which studies how social mood influences financial markets and political trends. He noted a shift towards far-right politics in Europe due to a negative social mood and predicted that China's negative social mood trend is reaching its extreme, which could lead to a positive trend in the next five years. However, this could also increase the risk of negative social actions from China in the near term. Murray Gunn is Head of Global Research at Elliott Wave International. He worked as a fund manager in global bonds, currencies and stocks, including long posts at Standard Life Investments and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He then joined HSBC Bank as Head of Technical Analysis. Murray is the author of Trading Regime Analysis (Wiley, 2009) and a contributor to Socionomic Studies of Society and Culture (Socionomics Institute Press, 2017). In April 2018, Murray took over the helm of The European Short-Term Update. You can also read his commentary in Global Market Perspective, Interest Rates Pro Services and Currency Pro Services, and on deflation.com.
