You know what it takes to be a fully developed woman who is balanced and full of life… who knows her worth and is a creation of beauty… It takes a Dad.

We need fathers… but more than ever women and girls in todays world need them the most. We have seen a turning in the USA over the last 30 years where women have increasingly become bitter towards men… and for many good reasons… but we must not forget that our understanding of who God is comes from the Father in heaven. We have a hard time relating to a heavenly father if we had a crappy father or worse yet no father.

Yes men need fathers… but they can still navigate life a little more balanced because they have the MAN DNA in them… I know this can sound weird.. and there is no science behind this that I can put my finger on… but I think you know what I mean. Boys want to be men when growing up… even if they don’t have a father in the house. Girls growing up want a father who will be a man and teach them how they should be treated and loved.

Here are five biblical reasons why a young woman need a father or father figure in her life:

  1. Protection and Guidance: The Bible emphasizes the role of fathers as protectors and guides for their daughters (Deuteronomy 6:6-9). A father's presence can provide a sense of security and offer wise counsel as a young woman navigates life's challenges.

And what happens when a young girl does not have this… she has a tendency to try to be her own woman and protect herself and guide herself… and nothing wrong with that but the danger is the enemy can turn that into a foundation of bitterness and not freedom. She can begin to despise men because she has had to do that job on her own… she was ripped off by not having a dad and a deep seated bitterness can develop… and a deep distrust of men… then that trait pushes men away from her and it retreats a cycle of rejection.

  1. Identity and Self-Worth: A father's love and affirmation play a crucial role in shaping a daughter's sense of identity and self-worth. Seeing herself as cherished and valued by her father can have a profound impact on her emotional well-being and future relationships.
  2. Setting Boundaries and Discipline: The Bible encourages fathers to provide discipline and guidance with love and firmness (Proverbs 13:24 A refusal to correct is a refusal to love;
    love your children by disciplining them.). This helps a young woman develop self-control, make wise choices, and understand the consequences of her actions.

A father loves his daughter and in doing so teaches her boundaries… You are to love a man who has your best interest in mind and not just your body.

  1. Role Modeling: A father's example can significantly influence a daughter's understanding of healthy relationships and appropriate behavior. Observing a father's love for his wife and his commitment to his family can provide valuable lessons about respect, commitment, and faithfulness.
  2. Spiritual Growth: Fathers are called to be spiritual leaders in their homes, teaching their children about God and His Word (Deuteronomy 6:7). A father's involvement in his daughter's spiritual development can help her build a strong foundation of faith and a lifelong relationship with God.

One of the hardest things for my wife to reconnect with when she became a Christian was to see God as a father. She had horrible father’s growing up… She told me once early in our marriage I don’t want God as a father I just want him as God. We laugh about it now… but it showed the hurt she had been exposed to by her fathers…

So if you are a man… maybe the best thing you can do is be that Fatherly example to a young woman who needs to see what a Godly father looks like. And if you are a young woman who feels like the world is telling you that you have been slighted by men… don’t believe the lie. Men of God are amazing… just like Our Father in heaven.
