Dear listeners,

We are back this week with Fiona Hurrey, who wrote her thesis on human wildlife conflicts, and more specifically on the cohabitation of French rural communities with wolves, who have been making a return to France in the past couple decades. After introducing the history of wolves in France, Fiona outlines how different populations position themselves in the conversation about their return, as well as the governance schemes dedicated to managing human-wolves interactions.

**small erratum: in the ep, Fiona said that the 'Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry' was responsible for drafting the national action plans, but it is actually the 'Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning, and Housing (DREAL)'. :)

Here is Fiona’s LinkedIn if you want to reach out to her.

And here are the resources which she recommends if you want to learn more about the topic.

The spatial distribution and temporal trends of livestock damages caused by wolves in Europe - Singer et al. (Academic article - EN)

Programme de bénévolat de WWF France ‘Entre Chien et Loup

As usual, stay tuned for more episodes :)
