Welcome to "People, Politics and Pork: Keep it Spinning!" Dive into the whirlwind world of Triple P with hosts Newell Clark and Greg Webb, two lifelong friends with a knack for storytelling and a love for all things intriguing.
From the heart of Lexington, North Carolina, Mayor Newell Clark brings a progressive spirit and a wealth of experience in politics and community leadership. His boundless energy and fresh perspective promise engaging discussions on everything from local initiatives to statewide policies.
Meanwhile, Greg Webb, our modern-day Forrest Gump, adds a dash of Southern charm and a touch of showbiz flair. From Hollywood to North Alabama and back again, Greg's journey through acting, writing, and managing a flea market brings a unique blend of wit and wisdom to the mic.
Memphis native Larry Raspberry joins Greg Webb on Triple P to discuss his lifelong passion for music that began in the 1950s. Growing up surrounded by the early rock and roll sounds of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Little Richard, Larry was inspired to start his own band, The Gentrys, as a teenager. Their top-five hit "Keep on Dancing" launched Larry's music career.
In the 1980s, Larry moved to Los Angeles seeking more opportunities in music and acting. Through a shared manager, Larry met Greg and started taking acting lessons, which led to actor Bill Paxton approaching Larry for advice on portraying a rockabilly singer in a film role.
Larry later formed his own band, Larry Raspberry and the High Steppers, reflecting his desire to keep moving forward in music. Discovering harmonica talent Fingers Taylor led to connections with Jimmy Buffett. Larry shares memories of crossing paths and performing with musical icons like Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash over the years.
Throughout the discussion, Larry conveys his lifelong passion for music that started in Memphis, was nurtured in Los Angeles, and continues today fronting his band. His appreciation for the rockabilly sounds that influenced him and his friendships with legends of the era showcase Larry's enduring dedication to his musical roots.
