NO BS WITH SB is proud to present 056 DAN KESTLER Dan Kestler is a Toronto based comic who was born and raised in Montreal. Since a very young age, Dan has been a huge fan of stand up comedy and he claims that he has watched the Just For Laughs galas on television at least 10 times each. At the age of 18, Dan started to write jokes but was lacking the courage and confidence to get up on stage. Finally, at the age of 22, Dan signed up for the open mic at the Comedy Nest in the Old Forum. After a few more sets, Dan would stop for a couple of years. In 2016, at the age of 26, Dan, who was working at a call center at the time, decided that it was time to pursue comedy once more. Later that year, Dan decided to register for the Humber College Comedy Writing and Performance program in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He got accepted to the program and moved to Toronto. There he would complete the program in two years, where he was a nominee for the Mark Breslin award for excellence in stand up. For his third semester of studies, Dan would head to Manchester, England for exchange. There he would perform all over the city and would go on to win the Beat The Frog competition at the Frog and Bucket comedy club. In the summer of 2018, Dan would continue his pursuit of recognition in the UK where he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. In Scotland, Dan was able to do 50 sets over that monthly span. In 2019, Dan made the short list for the CBC Comedy Next Up competition where after thousands of submissions, Dan was included in the top 100 comics for a chance to perform at a gala at the Halifax Comedy Festival. Now, Dan still calls Toronto home but he still comes into Montreal whenever he can.
