Riley and Derek start the show by discussing their previous weekends including the Flyers Warriors Gala and their men’s league game. Jumping over to some Flyers talk, the boys discuss Matvei Michkov’s overtime goal in Ottawa, Ivan Fedotov and Aleksei Kolosov playing well, and the last 3 games against Ottawa, Buffalo, and Colorado. They mention a couple big milestones including Helge Grans’ impressive NHL debut, Erik Johnson reaching 1000 career NHL games and his ceremony, and Ovechkin coming closer and closer to Gretzky’s goal record. Moving along they discuss Auston Matthews’ mysterious injury, referee Mitch Dunning going down, Ryan Reaves’ illegal check to Darnell Nurse’s head, and JT Miller leaving the Vancouver Canucks. Before we get to the interview Riles and Nasty discuss the Boston Bruins firing head coach Jim Montgomery.
All time legendary Philadelphia Flyers enforcer, and current Flyers scout Dave Brown joined us for an interview! Brown Dog gives us his insights on the current Flyers team, the prospects, and the rebuild. He talks to us about what he looks for when he’s scouting for the Flyers, how many games he attends a month and also gives his thoughts on analytics. Moving along to his playing career he tells us about the start of his hockey career, shares some funny stories from his junior career, fighting in pro hockey and playing in Maine. We go on to talk about his playing career starting with the Flyers, the anxiety before fighting, fighting in training camps. Going back to his Flyers days he tells us about the historic pregame brawl against the Canadiens, the 1987 playoff run and Cup loss to Edmonton, and playing for Mike Keenan. Wrapping up the interview Brownie goes in depth on being traded to the Oilers and winning the Stanley Cup with Edmonton. Finishing up the show Derek and Riley answer fan submitted questions presented by Klyr Rum.
