You had your choice between Jurassic Park, TMNT II: Secret Of The Ooze or John Carpenters The Thing. John Carpenter was panned by critics and audiences alike who weren't ready for the in your face practical effects and the expertly depicted body horror jump scares littered throughout this masterpiece of horror and suspense. While we can appreciate the genius in this film now, the backlash upon release had a long term effect on John Carpenters career and ultimately made him somewhat bitter towards the film industry as a whole. This film stands against the test of time defiantly as proof of when we all let a legendary film maker down and a reminder of what we could have missed out on for being so quick to dismiss a film.
