You are now listening to the 58th Episode on the Walk By Faith show with Jamaya Walker who shares her journey on helping other young girls and women break “daddyless daughter” stereotypes, heal and find a positive way to channel their hurt through creative arts.

Jamaya Walker was born in Richmond, California, is a performance artist, activist, writer, and scholar. She attended high school at Making Waves Academy in her hometown and graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 2019 with a B.A in English and a minor in Social Work. Walker is currently continuing her education at the University of Houston where she will obtain her MSW. Walker, despite knowing who her biological father has no relationship with him and lost the man she considered her father in a drug-related death in 2010, when she was 13. Unable to cope with her pain, she turned to creative arts as a positive way to not only deal with her emotions but bring awareness to the importance of father-daughter relationship and the impact absent fathers have on young women. Walker made a promise to herself that she would always transform her pain of loss, stereotypes, one-sided love, and low self-esteem, into power and purpose. She has dedicated her life to helping other young girls and women break “daddyless daughter” stereotypes, heal and find a positive way to channel their hurt through creative arts.
