Bird Flu Cases in the Central Valley

The H5N1 bird flu virus has infected millions of birds across the country since it started spreading in 2022, and made the jump to cattle last year. The virus is spreading across dairies in California’s Central Valley, and just last week California’s first human cases of bird flu were also confirmed in the region. Kerry Klein, Associate Editor and Reporter at Valley Public Radio (KVPR) in Fresno joins Insight to talk about the risks that H5N1 poses to cattle, people and the larger dairy industry, and the measures being taken to combat the spread.

Iron Rose FC’s New Expansion

A Roseville women’s soccer team has wrapped up its inaugural season with an undefeated record. Now, the club is looking at some major expansion plans in its second year. Evin Nadaner, Managing Partner at Iron Rose FC and COO of Roseville Soccer Club talks about the team’s first-year success, plans to develop young soccer talent in the region, and Iron Rose’s new men’s team which will start playing in “The League for Clubs” in 2025.

Parent ImpactU Oak Park

This weekend, a free workplace readiness event is coming to Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood, with the goal of closing the career awareness gap for parents and guardians. Parent ImpactU Oak Park will be held on Oct. 12 at the Oak Park Community Center. Mitchell Leach II, Founder and President of the nonprofit Interns 2 Pros talks about the importance of introducing parents and children to career opportunities early, and the different paths that students can follow after finishing high school - from college to trade school, to apprenticeships.
