I was recently asked an important question- How can church members fulfill their dual responsibility to -a- submit to their overseers and -b- be Bereans, testing what is taught against the Scripture-- How can we test what we are taught while respecting those who teach and govern us-- These two principles are hard for us to harmonize in real experience. But they do not conflict with each other-both are commanded by God and can be done well to his glory.
