I am NOT in the best mood today. It's 9/11, and for some reason, I got to really delving into memories of one person I knew who perished in the Twin Towers that day. His name was Andrew Marshall King. I grew up spending summers with him, his brother Soencer, and many others at our local country club. They lived a twon away from us, but I knew him via the country club, as well as our family having gven them one of our dogs, a little Bassett Hound, way back when. He was a hell of an athlete. I didn't know, for instance, that people actually DID a back dive in pike position until I saw him do it. He was a natural athlete, excelling in track, basketball, golf, tennis, swimming, diving, and just about anything else he played or competed. Three years older than me, he was somewhat of a bully when we were younger, but as high schooler, college guy, and adult, he was truly a fun and great guy to be around. And...23 years later, the whole damn thing just makes me so angry, almost irrationally so. He is gone, his family was torn apart, and to this day we don't really have adequate answers as to why it happened. Adding to that, this past week also marked the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Massacre that took place at the 1972 Summer Olympics. 52 years later we not only continue to have anti-Semitism, but it seems to have spread beyond the Islamic community and into the maintream in the USA. Some days all I can say is, "I just don't knw about this planet..." I'll cover a few other stories, including a quick note on last Saturday's debacle in Kinnick Stadium, where the Hawkeyes blew a 13-point halftime lead and made Iowa State look like CFP contenders. Join me at 6p ET, Wednesday 9/11/2024. Listen online, head into chat, or call in to listen at (319)-527-6706.
