On sunday the 27th of march we welcomed Bolu Bablola & Eliza Anyangwe in De Nieuwe Liefde. This is an edited audiostream of the event. Pop culture expert, bestselling author and self-named romcommoiseur Bolu Babalola talks to writer and editor Eliza Anyangwe about the important of African female storytellers as well as the genre of Black love stories as counternarratives, and the preservation of folktales and oral traditions. In her short story collection Love in Colour Bolu Babalola explores how the power of love has been expressed within a variety of cultures from around the world. “I pay homage to the textures of each original tale while also adapting them to fit a new, modern age. Her short story collection, LOVE IN COLOUR, was published in 2020, became a Times bestseller and was shortlisted for Waterstones Book of the Year. Her debut novel, HONEY AND SPICE, will be published in July 2022. Eliza Anyangwe joined CNN in February 2021 as editor of the award-winning global gender inequality project As Equals.
